Why our bike is so brilliant

It's always nice to be reminded that the 6-months salary-worth of bike purchase was the best decision you could have made.

My Dad asked me to run his 08 Blade for a while because he's away for 4 weeks. So I took it on a shortish (200km) breakfast run this morning.

Bending over like the small guy in a prison shower, just to reach the bars, sets the tone. And like him, the longer you stay bent the more it's gonna hurt.
I almost stalled pulling away. The 08 model especially has no low down torque. Happily my feet were still on the ground, because I missed the pegs first time round

Power is mad. 3/4 throttle, 6500rpm, 2nd gear, up she comes. No effort at all. If you're not exactly an expert, hope your back brake works because the 2nd hit is coming at 8000rpm. If you're supremely lucky you could actually land back on the rear wheel, it'll loop so hard (so I hear ).
290kph is so so so bloody easy. I don't see the point of hayabusas, unless I'm fitting a turbo

It's just, when I got home I hopped back on my little 110hp SD and simply had more fun. Feeling returned to my buzz-numbed fingers, I rejoiced in the engine feel and character, the handling, sound, everything. Back on the SD, the complimentary looks I got from everyone didn't hurt the riding experience. Neither did my neck and wrists

Hell yes I'm patting myself on the back for getting this bike, but KTM surely deserve an award for making this thing.
You can tell how stupid the human race is in general, by how few SD's you see on the road

+1 on that. You should ride a Duke II or 690 Duke in twisty, hilly areas (or tightly packed streets). The true hooligan/fun-factor is undeniable.

The SD is a beast that will not be repeated. It will evolve into something different. This version is destined to be a misunderstood (by the unwashed masses) classic.

personally id hate to see the roads full of SD`s, even if 1 of my Blade owning mates still insists on calling it `the scrambler`!!! (just wait till i gwt a ride out with him on some nice twisty back roads!!! )

ps. i have beers too Joe, 8 so far and i still have 8 in the fridge!! mmmmmmmm

Rock on boys! I have beers and vodka in the fridge....and following a particularly clement bit of weather here, have ridden the feckin' wheels of the SD this weekend and god I luv the mutha. It's one fine motorcylce!

Lobster I have had one of thoughs days today to ,I love this bike for what it will do and thats evry thing I whont out of two wheels ,roads I have been rideing to day with Mr Brourdside mainley twistys avridge speeds has been 60 to 120 MPH , apart from once I took her up to 150 mph and had more to go and mr Brihgtside and RC8 disopeard in my mirrors very quickley , but the funny thing is your mirrors stop vibrateing at that speed and go clear as a bell

over 10'000 miles on my SD now and is running beter than it has ever done ,I new it wood chainge once we hit the 10'000 mark ,it takes a V'Twin this long to run in proper , now I have grown with it in the larst year ,I am now getting my monys werth out of here ,and pissing my mates off as well I think becose I carnt shut up abowt just how good , and how much fun I am haveing with this bike at the moment , Its defernetley a keaper , and I have never ever sed that abowt eney bike I have ever ound

and it eats RC'8s rownd the twisteys as well it dose

Aye freestyler, you're a lucky man who has a riding buddy you can rely on!
I've got a couple guys who I ride regularily with, but it's now too cold for them (10degC ), if that's cold then everyone on this forum loves the 1200ST!

I tried to get some wheelie practice yesterday, but would you believe the bloody traffic at 17h00! On a Saturday !

Going out again as soon as the sun announces it's arrival this morning (it's 02h48 right now) - I WILL learn today!
(by the way, I live 4700ft above sea level, and we lose around 18% power due to this; My excuse for why my power wheelies aren't impressive...)

I'm 3 months into a beautiful relationship with my SD. What a bike. Went on the Mayday run to Rye with an assorted bunch of mates on sports bikes. Baffles out and evos and she makes the best noise of the lot - what a great bark on hard accelleration. I'm not a fast rider, I don't do track days or those sorts of things but one of the guys who is mentally fast said I was riding quick - really, it had nothing to do with me - the bike just goes and it is easier than all the sports bikes round the corners.
And yes, I love not seeing a load of SDs. They stand out from the crowd like no other bike. Brilliant!

If everyone had one, it wouldn't be special. We'd all be like the H-D clones I see on the weekends dressed like pirates, only to find they wear suits & ties to court (or while not in surgery). This is also the reason there are hundreds of them selling on the used market with less than 2k miles on them. Ahhh, fashion. I'll rue the day when KTM becomes fashionable, or when the common "joe" knows what it is, a KTM.
