adding coolant to overflow

just got my used 2008 990 duke and it runs great.
the coolant overflow bottle was a bit low and after a few days its almost empty. the radiator is still full and that seems to be the only place to add coolant. why is the overflow running low? how do i add coolant to the overflow?
