Chain Slack

First I used SEARCH to find the subject but didn't find what I was looking for.

So here it goes; In the owner manual it say to adjust the chain so there is 7mm gap between the chain and the swing arm. This sure does make for a lot of drive chain back lash. I can feel it while trying to maintain a steady cruise. At first I thought it was all throttle but I took almost all the slack out of the throttle cable, changed to the RC8R Progressive throttle cam, installed the Akrapovic slip-on's and map, adjusted the rebound so the front end isn't bouncing around. The only issue now is the chain movement.

Does anyone have advice on the tightness of the chain to fix the drive train back lash issue?

Note: If this has been discussed before please forgive me and provide a link. Thank you.
