Exhaust Modification Ad Nausium

Sorry to beat a dead horse, but looking at the stock exhaust (from the mounting flange end) and having seen modifications done to 950 Adventures, has anyone tried to just remove the cat through the flange? Seems like it ought to be a simple process!?

Hmmm... think I'm still gonna do some cutting an drilling and cursing and give it a whirl. I'm somewhat enamored with the overall shape and size of the stock exhaust. Everything I've seen aftermarket sticks out the arse end way too far!.. Maybe a little more cutting and welding to put an 1.5" or 2" packed pipe.
