exhaust pipe paint?

My exhaust pipe after three years was looking a bit rough so last winter I took it off the bike and replaced it with a nice minty exhaust that I got cheap on ebay (with the graphite washer). I was thinking of cleaning it up on the wire wheel, etc...and giving it a paint job...any ideas?...I could just paint it black I suppose...maybe white? Anybody painted or coated their exhaust pipes? (I don't mean the mufflers, just the pipes).

...I have a good selection of polishing wheels of different types....I put them onmy bench grinders and they seem to work fine...and a good selection of different polishing bar compounds
