How to access the ECU to connect to tune ecu?

Hello Fellow superdukers.
got the 2008 SDR all stock except the FMF slip ons.
I got the the software
got the cable.
Now, how do I access the ECU? Is there a step by step instructions? I looked up instructions but the link does not work anymore.
