well i just recieved my new matt black shoei XR1100 from the insurance company (wouldnt give me much money for my damaged one but would replace the same item... go figure)

SO

i have decided to KTMafie it up a lil (yes it is a made up word but works). I am going to tape it up while i have nothing to ride (still) and paint on some KTM orange gloss GT stripes down the center of the helmet (about two inches wide each).

the big question, what colour do i choose? and what paint (in a spray can as i dont have a compressor) should I use as i have never painted a helmet before.

and if anyone knows that orange pearl that the 08 SD's came with that would be cool too
I've had whipped cream on my helmet, but it melted a bit too quick before she could suck it off

I remember reading some time ago that its not a good idea to paint a helmet as it can damage the integrity of the shell.
But Apparently with Arai you can paint the shell no probs. But I think you should just do a quick google on the subject
Or you could do it in sign vinyl, I've got a bit here if you want some.
I think that will look superb.

Like the Bell Daytona. I've got this lid with the white stripes.

does anyone know any of the KTM (orange) colour codes so that I can try to find a paint shop to put it together?
I have got a sheet from KTM with all colourcodes..I will try to post it up here, or a link. Have to find out how, it is a pdf....
Hope this link works....
Cheers mate.. Will post pics when done

It's superb. Well finished and its really light. They do a carbon version too.

Only negative I found is the visor isn't quick release.

Why didn't you just ask me?

Glad I could help.
Speaking of helmets does anyone own a Shark Vision R? If so does the Sun shade thing come standard and does it slide down similar to that a of a fighter pilots helmet? looks like an interesting alternative to having to wear sun glasses within your lid
