Switched 12V on 1290 for accessories

OK, I give. I've looked in the manual and searched on this site but can't find out where to tap into a switched 12v source for GPS and radar detector on my 1290. I read a post about labeled switched and always on sources in the headlight housing but I found nothing in my 1290's headlight housing.

Anyone have a clue?

Under the rear seat there's 4 wires with crimped ends. I think one pair is constant and one switched live.

I too am interested on where switched power is on a US model. The blocked off wire bundle under the seat is clearly marked as a diagnostic port on mine. There is a labeled grip heater connection inside the headlight shell. There is also a unlabeled two wire connection under the buddy seat. On a 1190 that is for a heated seat.

KTM offers a gps mount you would think there is a provision somewhere for power?

In the workshop manual wiring diagram there are two accessory power sources.

Switched power
Yellow/red wire (positive)
Brown (earth)

Non switched
Black/Red wire (positive)
Brown (earth) (Non switched)

Double check that with a DMM or an accessory and your ignition.

With high power draw items make sure you use a relay.

Comrades: They are definitely under the seat but hidden underneath one of the large harnesses. Have a good poke around and you'll find them. They are even labelled to make it easy but here you go, one useless photo (all it really does is prove they are there):

Thanks for the photo jmann!

Those f'ers were buried deep. I'd never had the balls to grab them with a tool and blindly pull till they came out without seeing your photo!

ACC1 is always on power.
ACC2 is switched but only has power when the engine is running!

Now all I have to do is to figure out what type of connectors those are and run wires up to the headlight.

Thanks again!

Here's a link to a thread where kevxtx has posted a series of photos showing how to take the tank off. Those photos start near the bottom of this page: http://www.ktmsmt.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=6511

Thank you guy's. I will start digging tonight for the leads.

Adding my trailtech LED lights. I'll post some pics once they are working. I like the oncoming traffic to see as much of me as possible. Also my previous Duke had a really weak headlight and needed the extra help.

Any idea what the two prong connector is under the buddy seat? My dealer says that it won't be active till they tell the bike it has heated grips than maybe it will powerup as a heated seat lead?

Max is right, I bought a cell phone holder and I use the 5v to charge it. This is the exact one I bought.

Thanks, KTMGuy! Didn't see anywhere that the Autotune was too much for that wire! If you don't mind providing that wire color, I'd appreciate it. Don't want to make any mistakes!

OK, found the wire. That's going to be a challenge to tap into.

This might be a stupid question, but since neither this wire nor the ACC2 wire can run the Autotune, and I'm just looking for a switched wire, why can't I use the ACC2 wire? Would be a lot easier.

If you're running a PDM 60, you CAN in fact use the ACC2 accessory wire as the ignition trigger for the Autotune 300. You don't need a relay and you don't need to tap into the wire that KTMGuy mentioned. I'm sure that wire will work just fine, but it's a whole lot harder to get to than the ACC2 wire. If you don't have the PDM 60, KTMGuy's method is probably the best.
