Hello there, long time no see
After two years without KTM I'm back on the new Superduke 1290
2010 I drove in the KTM Superduke Battle and became second in the championship and now after 3 years on different bikes I will start in the now called Continental Superduke Battle again with my brother, who won the championship in 2012, and my Dad
www.conti-battle.de
For 2014 it will be allowed to start with both bikes, 1290 and 990. So far there are 40 starters, and I think somewhat around 10-13 starting with the new one
But enough of that
I got my 1290 a little earlier and went to Cartagena - Spain to give it a try
By the way, it has 160PS on the wheel and 150nm, of course not wheelpower but still very nice
I havent changed anything for the first ride, stock suspension, stock everything
The brakes are amazing, simply amazing.
I am not a big fan of electronic stuff like TC and ABS but I gave it a try on the first day.
Wheelie control is very very nice for fast acceleration, much better than the BMW one
TC comes very late in the sport mode (or whatever the name is) , but the rear wheel is very good to handle, you feel every second how much grip there is left.
Maybe the 200/60 Pirelli is the reason for late TC activation, I dont know
The motor is very nice, not too much though. After riding a 200 horsepower BMW for one year
Compared to the RC8R it feels a little stronger in the middle, but weaker near the end. This might not be a fair compare, because my RC8R had a full exhaust system and stock kit. 175hp
For a fat fook like me the suspension is way way to soft on the racetrack. Everything shakes, a lot of movement. Nothing new to us 990 riders though
The footrest is waaaaaaaaay to low, too. Everything scratches on the ground very early. The exhaust for example scares the superbikers
In february I will go to cartagena again, but this time with my nearly ready to win the championship bike
Suspension front: Full closed öhlins fork
Suspension rear: I'll keep the stock one, but change it. A little more compression and so on
Shift up side down stuff, dont know what the english word is
Gear ratio must be longer for me
Footrests up up up up upppppppppppp
Laptime Cartagena so far is 1.41,7 - with my Suzuki K9 with full suspension I drove 1.39,7
My aim for the next time is 1.38,** - and kick some superbikers asses
If you got any questions, feel free to ask. If you are interested in information how the season is going and the changes on the bike I will update this fromt time to time like 2010
