With the weather report looking excellent, I decided to go along as £105 for Cadwell is a steal. The TDO was Easytracks, I've never been to one of their days before, their website said they try to be different from all the others!
Right from turning up and registering it was obvious this was going to be different from other track days. The car park was practically empty, signing on was chilled and the Easytrack staff greeted you warmly. The safety briefing was very different to some out there, it was very adult, the speaker was actually being charming. He explained that this was the usual numbers, he asked people to shake hands with the person next to them and said the if the first few sessions went well they would run the day in two groups of 30 minutes. We went through the flags, overtaking, the usual stuff. It was the most professional, adult and courteous briefing I've ever had.
First session, three sighting laps, back in to the pits, then straight back out on track.
Out on track, Wow. It was the emptiest I have ever seen it. Amazing to have loads of room on track, 30 minutes at a time, easily pass what other bikes are out there and have come in after a session without being pissed off from crazy overtakes etc. The other riders were good, there seemed to be none of the usual tensions out on the track. I think only two people came off and there were no halted sessions or red flags.
After lunch all was going well till I had a problem with the SD! Its a strange one, coming out of Coppice and leaning right on the way to Charlies the rear tyre felt as it was flat, like the tyre was moving on the rim. I came back in to the pits, checked the pressure (35PSI - warm) and headed out again, to see if it was my imagination! The same happened again, round the right handers the tyre felt like it was well under pressure and moving like a flat tyres does when you drive on it.
I decided to call it a day, I'd had 5 great 30 minute sessions and my monies worth. It was a great day, even though the gremlins came to visit.
