Anybody fancy a cheeky day at Cadders?

£99 with Focused.

Not a definate yet but now theyve put the new A road in i dont actually mind the 2 hour drive to get there rather than the 2.5 hour slog before
Viking

Viking

I'm at Donnington 29th and Oulton 30th. Think 3 days might be pushing it.

You not fancy one of those instead. Oulton should be good if its dry.

Colonel_Klinck

Colonel_Klinck

I'm hoping to have it fitted for Snetteton next Wed. Even if it arrives in time I won't be trying to fit it before Rockingham on Sat. That is just asking for it to go horribly wrong.

Looks like Stew and Gordon are jinxing us with weather this track season. Could be a day for wets again guys.
Viking

Viking

This ain't even funny anymore.

Every mutha fookin trackday I do it rains. I mean, how is that even possible.

It's been a heatwave all week. I leave today to come down and it's to drop to 15 deg C with scattered showers.

That's 5 trackdays done and hardly took any steps forward with my riding or setting up this shittey old Hovis bike due to the weather or guys with pile of shit bikes blowing oil all over the place. In the last 4 trackdays I've had like 6 dry sessions total! How hard can it be man.

fook this. I'm goin back to cars.

Part of me thinks I might write the day off if the it looks like being a cold wet day. Nearly £80 in diesel and another £20 in petrol just to ride at 70%. I did enjoy the day on wets but I'm in a dry riding mood now. Bit gutted I won't have the Suter slipper fitted either. Was so looking forward to trying that on track.
Viking

Viking

I'm the same. Looking dry for Donny and Oulton. Not keen on then dragging my ass 3hrs east for a day in the rain then a 6.5hr journey home.

Will see how it goes. After Oulton on wed I'll try and find a decent 3g signal and hop on here and take it from there. My Met office app is saying hot with a few scattered showers, 40% chance of rain. If it's warm and its small showers it'll dry super quick.
Colonel_Klinck

Colonel_Klinck

It's the drop in temp and northerly wind that has me worried. Like you say the track dries very quickly but a chilly northerly wind and temps just over double digits isn't good

Ginge's lack of heating is to keep the house at the optimum temp for Maltesers.

It's practical science in action.

Colonel_Klinck

Colonel_Klinck

Looking like I'm on my own for the first time tomorrow. Must take it easy as crashing and not being able to get home really isn't an option.

Sorry I won't be seeing you Gordon and Stew. Glad you got a couple of dry days Gordon. See you at the Crashfest guys, if not before.
Colonel_Klinck

Colonel_Klinck

Well the weather man didn't lie Oh how it rained.. eventually.

Rocked up at Ginge's on Wed night with a box of beers (b'day present) and a box of maltesers (price of B&B) Always good to see the old boy And as I had forgotten my waterproofs he lent me his posh KTM ones.

Thursday morn was actually dry when I set off at 6.30. Roads were dry even though it had pissed it down the night before. By the time I arrived at the track it was starting to spit. Got setup and signed on. The 2 guys setup next to me were forced to go in group 3 even though they wanted group 2. Typical FE event and they have over sold it again Why do we bother bopoking with these cnuts guys?? Seriously?? I got chatting to a MSV guy later in the day and he said FE are hated by everyone who works for MSV as they are alway over sell events, then try and force the extra riders on the MSV guys running the track that day. But anyway I was in group 3 so at least I was happy.

First session the track was damp. Couldn't get any temp in to Racetecs and rear was spinning with any aggressive throttle inputs. Didn't enjoy it at all and came in. Superdan turned up, good to see you dude I did one more session on the Racetecs but it was still no fun. Took a chance and put the wets on for next session. Was def the right move. Track wasn't wet wet but was getting there, myself and 2 other guys I saw that had wets on ended up leaving the guys on dry tyres behind. Tyres looked fine at the end of the session so was def the right move. Then it did start to rain a bit more and almost everyone was on wets. I actually really enjoy riding in the the wet now. It is amazing just how much grip there is. So many times the likes of Ginge and Stew said it was a laugh and I kinda laughed at them but I take it all back guys, its a really good laugh. Last session before lunch it started fooking chucking it down 5 mins into session. Its quite hard to judge when your riding if its raining harder. The give away was suddenly there was a lot of standing water and the spray off wheels up Park and pit lane straights was insane I had forgotten my clear visor as well and was having terrible problems with my smoked one misting up. Not what you want when its a problem to see anyway through the spray. Need to buy some of those anti fogging wipes as opening your visor on slower parts of the track to try and clear it is not the way to go

Lunchtime and it continued to piss down. By the time we headed back to the paddock the vans were leaving in droves. It eased off before my next session but still a lot of standing water on track. For that session I decide to get an instructor to follow me round. Never done this before and didn't know what to ask him to help with. He said he'd follow me round and if I was off line he would come past and show me the line. So we head out, rain is just spitting again but a lot of the standing water has run off the track. I get the bit between my teeth knowing he's behind me and put in what felt like a fast session. He didn't come past me so I knew my lines were ok. Chequered flag comes out and I head back in.. He comes in 30 secs later. He was impressed with the speed of the SD. Couldn't get near it on the straights he was only riding a 600 though. Said my lines looked great and just continue doing the same I was very happy with that. Looked at the lap timer and I did 4 laps under 2 mins with fastest of 1.57.55 It had been my goal to try and do some sub 2 mins in the wet and knowing he was behind me had pushed me on and I'd done it.

Last 2 sessions there were about 8 of us going out. I was still having lots of fun and having a clear track I just kept working on lines and braking points. Stupid laptimer app is a bit hit and miss, sometimes works flawlessly and other times doesn't record a single lap. No idea why it does this. i'm going to check the forum on it. Last session was a dry line and it started to ball up the wet rear. Should have maybe come in but was still having too much fun. Looks like it will clean up ok with a session in the wet. Packed up and headed off after a great day. Dropped Ginge's waterproofs off on the way back and had a coffee. Made him open his packet of choc digestives when he tried to fob me off with Rich Teas You could see the pain in his face Cheers Ginge you are def the host with the most

Bring on Snetteton a week next Tuesday for open pit lane. I hear a certain Freestyler is going to be there. I keep getting images of a SD going round the outside with a little wave as it goes past Bring it on

Will post a vid up later of that session before lunch. Rain was insane

Oh and I love the quick shifter Arrived back to find the new spring for my Suter slipper waiting so that's going in later. Can't wait to play with that.

Lastly a couple of guys wandered over in the pits and said they also had SDs. Neither were using them on track though or members of the forum. I pointed them in this direction and invited them to the Crashfest. The name left them looking slightly worried but hopefully they will sign up.

Flying the SD.net - good man

I wish id had the energy to get my arse there now, sounds like a nice chilled out day on track even if it was wet

Any footage?
Colonel_Klinck

Colonel_Klinck

Hope you're feeling better dude. You did miss a fun day.

Will put up some footage hopefully later. Have a slipper to fit first and have to get wets off and Racetecs back on for breakfast run blast with Millar in the morn

couple of laps when it was really raining

Second lap I almost end up mowing. Really didn't think he'd move that far across. Was already committed and so it was a case of go for it and hope.

Nice one mate good to see you did'nt panic and hit the brakes when matey moved across could have been a tricky one Just shows a few spots of rain and you nearly get the circuit to yourself
Also thanks for the beers and the malteasers (which i've hidden incase Turnip shows up today )
