Tripod dave and I are thinking about doing Focused Events Almeria track day in September 4 days on track for £445, that price includes the track days, bike transport, and hotel. Flights you sort out your self. For those of you who have never done a euro track day you don't know what your missing!

I've got some work things to sort out before I can commit but those who want to go can save money by sharing a car although last time I found a car rental company that rents out older cars for next to nothing.
Can't recommend this highly enough for those who haven't been: driest and sunniest corner of Europe and the highlight of my motorcycle year!
Almeria is a technical circuit and rewards people who take the time to learn it properly.
I know people have mixed things to say about Focused Events but they really know how to deliver a foreign track trip plus the tuition is second to none.
KTM666

KTM666

Already booked me and the Mrs (675 'R')

See you there.....as Dave said Great track and gauranteed 4 sunny days on track.....

and with Focused you get 4 day on track .....where every body else gives you only 3 days on track.....if you do 6 european track events ......your seventh is free

Great Hotel and after track social

I tempted, have to revisit in a month or so.

FE Euro events are a lot more chilled than the UK ones. More track time, less idiots and people don't want to get injured 1000s miles away from home. You'll still get a little of the FE briefing lecture (they are heavier than No Limits or Easy Tracks), they are 100% professional though.

What the accommodation like? Hopefully not a half finished gold course 35k's away with no facilities (like Cartagena).
Colonel_Klinck

Colonel_Klinck

For that price I could be tempted by this. Wonder why its so cheap? Still going to be so hot that no one will be able to stay in leather for more than 20 mins?
Ducati Pete

Ducati Pete

The circuit is cheap as chips to hire.

I would bet that it's cheaper per day than Mallory in January!

Before the Euro exchange rate stung us, even places like Jerez were suprisingly cheap.

I did Cartagena with FE a couple of years ago. Was hardly anyone there. A few kids on 125s that were going round the outside of all of us We had Guy Martin there for best part of a day playing on a BMW I think. The whole thing ended up as open pit lane for the 3 days. Was a good laugh. Schnauzer, myself, Motoronin and Monty went off here.

KTM666

KTM666

Dave it might be tempting fate...doing off road riding before!!!!

As Dave said .....Its worth adding a few days .....to chill out...we tend to make it up as we go and stay where we fancey...always cheaper in the hotels to book when you are out there and flights are cheaper mid week....and you will be Knackered after 4 days ......the 'Apres Track' can be hard going.....loads of great restraunts within walking distance of hotel (great Value)....and everybody meets for drinks at the bar in the evening to take the piss and re-live the day before going on to eat......fantastic time........After the first day its like one big family with EVERYBODY helping each other...without being asked.....you will wonder why you ever did a UK track day ....no comparison
CEREC1

CEREC1

When do FE need the bikes to transport them?
Nick, where do you fly from and how do you get your 2 bikes to FE base?
fuel

fuel

Its normally the Saturday before by 12.00. The cannock drop off is any time Monday to Friday, Saturdays by appointment, I suspect the last day there (cannock) is the Friday before.
KTM666

KTM666

We usually fly from Bristol to Murcia (Bourmouth very good price ....but a real pain for me.....Birmingham is quicker )

We hire a Van (3 bikes+ kit bags and tool box, wheel stands, tyres) its £50.00

You can take

1. Your Motorcycle.

2. Leathers, helmet, boots and gloves in a holdall weighing no more than 15kg.

3. One sealed plastic/metal storage box, no bigger than 1x1x2 ft, which can contain tools, tyre warmers etc weighing no more than 13kg.

4. One set of paddock stands.

5. One set of tyres or one set of wheels per bike. Any extras will be charged at £10 per wheel or tyre.

All the above are approx.....most people are above these...and nothing is said......(but within reason...as long as they can comfortably lift it...they will load it).....

We were loading last year talking to Kevin (the boss) and the Focused Guys and this chap came trundling accross the loading area pushing a fully loaded 4ft high 'Snap On' Tool chest on wheels .......er we all fell about laughing .....and he was serious

Dont panic ......if you are stuck we will sort someting out.....

KTM666

KTM666

Yes you will need warmers (if you have them) you get about 8 laps per session .....so the fewer taken warming up the better

As half of the track is very flowing ...one corner leads to another and there are 3 completly blind crests ....its harder to learn than you think....

All you need is adaptor plug...there are enough power points

...to be fair though ....dependant on tyres 1 and bit laps ...and leaving the bike in the sun helps

reel extension cable
extension block
tyre warmers
Leathers, boots, gloves
clothes for the week
deck chair!
anything else?

I'm assuming it would be good if we could take over a garage all to ourselves? Perhaps when the FE office is open next week I could have a chat to see if we can get them to dump our gear into one pre-selected garage maybe by having our own Superduke.net additional tags?
If we are all keen I could make inquiries?
Then all we have to do is get down there early and get as many SDs into our space as possible before we are inundated.

Given that the car I've booked is a little over subscribed I guess the best option will be for me to get another car which means that someone will have to take on the existing booking or book a group car from scratch (might be simplest) and I'll modify my existing booking.

Not just any old world champion: a world champion from the 'golden era' of 500cc motorcycle racing.
He raced and won against Lawson, Spencer, Rainey, Schwants, etc.
Man, I can still see him light his Honda up all the way up the hill at Donington the year he retired. The bike warbling, twitching and sliding and leaving massive black lines. Just writing this is making the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.
I wonder if I've still got my Rothmans jacket in the loft?

Not sure where the fook £545 came from as the trip is £445 and I asked for an addition hotel night which makes £490 total, minus £200 already paid. Right , I've got an Easyjet flight and four days on track (3 nights in a hotel, you'll have to fork out for one more night) at Almeria, flying from Gatwick on the 19th and returning on the morning of the 24th September, with Focused Events going for £500 (plus 15% admin feen for name swap, £68) it's a bargain. PM me. The reason it's so cheap is I can't go, having crashed at Cadwell.

I've just responded to an utter pack of lies from Kev at FE on 'Track day riders', as soon as I did the thread was locked down and apart from telling FE they were lying out of their arse I was pretty restrained...

He wrote, that I'd said I had a broken leg and that he'd offered me the 15% name change fee. Utter bloody lies, here's the email I sent 10/08/12 at 10:41..

Dear Sir/Madam, having telephoned three times in the past two days I'm becoming increasingly concerned that I have heard nothing from you regarding my refund. I had a bad crash at Cadwell Park going into Coppice and have torn a number of tendons in my right hand, fortunately a trip to A&E shows nothing broken. I simply cannot afford to fix the bike and make it to your event at Almeria for the 20-3/09/12, this is clearly a huge disappointment to me which is being exasipated by your inability to confirm I'm being refunded, it clearly states in your T&Cs "Please note that we are unable to offer refunds, transfers or cancellations within ten days of the event." From first notice of me being unable to attend, it will be seven weeks to the event. I don't see why this even needs to be referred to a manager and I don't wish to be credited for future track days as I need the money to repair my bike. I eagerly await your response. Regards, Dan Watson.

This got locked..

Dear All

Obviously we see all the stuff floating around here, and there is obviously an undercurrent from one or two individuals on here, some who don’t accept that they cannot get their way all the time, and when that happens they are going to try to damage our business through their anger. Its not as if we have not tried to be reasonable with one or two of these incidents because we have, but our idea of trying to find middle ground is not acceptable to them, because they are not getting what they want completely, and it has to be said that sometimes we cannot offer middle ground as its just not acceptable as to what is being asked. Believe me, when i say to you all, that we are not trying to upset people and indeed from our point of view 95% of our customers are having a great time on our events. What i will accept is that our admin team, have not being doing a great job of late, and this is something we are working at now, to change and to solve. We know that confirmations have not been sent out on time, we know that sometimes we have riders that are not on the lists, and we do solve those problems on the days, however for these problems we do apologise and you can be assured that we are doing our very best here to solve these issues.

But its also plainly obvious to us that there are one or two individuals on this site that are determined to continually moan, complain and get back on the Bash FE bandwagon at every opportunity. Of course, there are plenty of pro-FE posts that come out and defend us, and thankyou guys for that. But its interesting to see in the Trackday reports section, no posts when we run good events and there have been plenty of them lately. The one that was recent was Donington, last Monday. One red flag all day and with a full house, and despite some saying we don’t deal with issues, i personally removed one of the Buildbase riders at 12pm, when he broke pitlane exit rules by wheeling out the pitlane and then ignored 4 black flags. Please remember that FE is a appointed supplier of BMW UK, but the rules are the rules. Silverstone the week before, 1 red flag, and hardly a peep on here. Mallorys’s no reds, Cadwells, 1 red, Dony a couple of weeks ago, 1 red, and yet no mention. I’m sure you can see my thought process here. From my point of view, there are one or two contributors here that have a very different sub menu actually going on. We do not normally post here, as to be honest its very easy to put something up here, and then be shot down by lies, because, “its there in print.....it must be true !”

So this is about me, utter fooking BULLSHIT!!!!
Which leads me to this gentleman. In the future trackdays section “Focused Events”

This particular customer approached our offices some time ago when this event was actually marked full. He pleaded with us over a couple of weeks to get him on, and we were also getting asked by one or two other customers as well. So we looked at the event again, moved some logistics around and solved the problem. Well we were the best thing since sliced bread....this gentlemans best TDO ! . And then in the last week, we get a call from him, telling us that “HE HAD BROKE HIS LEG !” (on here no mention of that injury, infact described as something else) and we absolutely did not and could not check to see if he crashed, why would we ! Sorry but we did return to the Ts and Cs. But we offered to wave the admin charge if he sold it to someone else to help (and i have been informed he is now trying to sell the event on here in another section with the admin fee included !).....so where are we now. Well i have come out to say something . At FE we always work hard to try to bring you all great events at realistic prices, but realistic means that we are always running at 100% and unfortunately every now and again (and more often than normal lately) mistakes are made. I know people sometimes find me grumpy or even offensive at times. Sometimes thats because i am flat out trying to keep the day going and delivering your day, and sometimes its because i wear my heart on my sleeve (foolishly at times) and speak my mind when i think something is unreasonable.
motoronin

motoronin

And my response...

I'm assuming that you're talking about me and you're doing so with bare faced lies.
I did not plead with you over weeks, it was one phone call to see if it was full and whether it was possible to come. As for moving things about? C'mon, you told me that the event wasn't full, it's the trucks going down, my bike would have to go on an earlier truck and come back on a later one and that you would send me details of where I had to take my bike and when, which incidentally, you never did. As for the best TDO, I was pleased that I could come but never said anything of the sort, of course I expressed delight that there was room, I've been looking forward to it.
Now as for the report that I'd broken my leg? Bullsh*t, utter bullsh*t, I thought I'd broken my middle knuckle on my middle finger and said as much and was most certainly told by one of your staff that you would check, I later that day, when I had time, went to A&E and had it x-rayed, I then informed you it wasn't a break but torn tendons and stated that it was not being able to fix the bike AND go to Almeria, that was my main reason for not going and lying to cover your arse won't help you.
As for the fact that you offered to waive the 15% fee, once again, lies. Apart from me telephoning almost everyday and sending two emails, I received no offer of ANYTHING until a generic email yesterday notifying everyone of their T&C's which had been suspiciously updated and an email at 0120 this morning. Nothing, not a squeak, from Wednesday last week and most of this, too busy to talk to me, apparently. No wonder I'm pissed off, being fobbed off is never pleasant and now I'm having to defend myself against a pack of bloody lies.
I'm offering a £245 flight and your £455 track day for £500, so I can fix my bike, I don't think whoever buys it paying the admin fee is too terrible as they're getting a bargain, the bonus for me though is never having to have anything to do with any of you again. To make me sound petulant, to make it sound that I'm the unreasonable one after chasing you for an answer, for an entire week, you really are the lowest of the low. You couldn't even be arsed to speak to me and you have the cheek to paint me as unreasonable!! LOL!
Just know that you will never get a penny from me, not even if Rossi was doing free instruction and there were Moto GP bikes for everyone to ride, anyone I can, I will tell them what utter charlatans you are and should you other Track day enthusiasts book with FE and get shafted, you only have yourselves to blame, as have I, because I've been warned by so many other people before, and I didn't listen...
motoronin

motoronin

Plus now I'm barred, you want to read their sanctimonious bullshit ffs...

On an unbelievably amazing note. Two mods Steve C and a Dozi, offered me the chance to take their one of their bikes to Almeria. Two blokes I've never met..
That truly is astonishing and I'm humbled by their generosity, well, gobsmacked to be fair..

Unfortunately I can't take them up on the offer as riding, well crashing, someone else's bike is enough to put me in a cold sweat but the simple fact is I need to get my bike fixed and my hand still hurts like a bastard, with enough Tramadol I'm sure I'll be able to hold a pint for tomorrow, as for FE, the longer we let them treat us like shit, the longer they will...

So some advice please from those who have done Almeria before.
What's the best gearing for this circuit? I know it's a compromise but I'm wondering if I should take a change of rear sprocket. I've got a spare rear carrier so just switching the rear would be easy. Running 16/40 at the moment.

The only problem I have with chrono days is at Almeria someone can post similar lap times to you because their bike does 190mph on the back straight and by the long left hander you're parked up their arse again.
(course I'm saying that now but I haven't ridden on track for a year I could be in the slow group because I'm wobbling round)
I find if you do get caught however the best thing is to do a pit lane ride through and then set off again.

Its a full on resort (99% Spanish holiday makers and Older ex pats who live there) you can change over there, there is a Bank 300m away...but I am taking Euros (Staying on for some R&R after) you can pay for your tyres / petrol in either or by card

Most of the drinking is usually in the hotel bar ......then off for a meal

Watching that vid again that straight is going to kill us. I've seen 150 on my clock at Snetterton on the back straight with 17/40 but I'm now on 17/41 so I'd guess 147 will be flat out. Monty wants to try my SD as he hasn't done all the airbox mods ect on his, so I get to take his ZX10 round. WIll be interesting to see what she does down that straight.

If you have time get one off ebay loads cheaper than a stockist.

You can either get the Gopro HD or the latest Gopro 2 HD

The basic differnce between the two apart from price is the hero 2 takes 11mp photos, if you dont think you will use it in photo mode I would just go for the HD version:

1080 HD Gopro

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Gopro-HD- ... 27cad5108b

Hero 2

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-GoPro-HER ... 337c0aacd6

Dont forget you will need a 32mb high def jobbie card for it too can get them for £25 off ebay too.

Also a seat post mount if you want it attached to handlebars.

Got moved from from Inters to fast at lucnch time and then got a row round by Monty and Keith on the ZX10s. Only did 3 sessions all day as there was a bad crash the afternoon with possible spinal injuries which cut day short as we had no doctor left at track. Still did a 1.58 which is meant to be a good time after 3 dad for a newbie to be track. Promise to do at least one do the ZX10s tomorrow guys

I am def coming back here. Hotel is great, sea 100 yds away. Fooking amazing steak last night and the track is next level awesome. Even Kev has gone out of his way to help a few people out and apart from being a bit shirty at the briefing when someone said they couldn't hear him, he's been very approachable and more than willing to help in any way he can. He was even on the phone to Kawasaki UK when Chris's forks were paying up to see of there was anything could be done. Very well run event. Real shame about all the shit Ronin had to go through with them. As the actual event is nothing like that experience.

Just trying to cut a couple of laps out of last session today and post it up. Hopefully done by morning.

Wow, what an awesome 4 days. Sunny Spain welcomed us to her bossom with open arms, 26c+ temperatures, and a rocking track.

FE come through big time. There's tons of stories to tell, one special one is the praise poured down on Klinks performance in the fast group his trusty SD. There were dozens of sports bikers getting mugged by him out there, all shocked at just how capable both rider and bike were. Steve Plater was especially impressed, however that's someone else's story to tell, I'll just let set the scene with this pic

Those who wish to pay for Kev's shirt (Mike I think you've got this?) add 12.5%
