I watched the qualifying sessions on Speed last night. The number of high-sides was disturbing. Scott Russell said that modern electronics have practically eliminated high-sides. But, it was apparent that that the grip on that track was so poor and unpredictable even the electronics couldn't deal with it.
Stoner's crash looked more violent than Nicky's, but Nicky landed worse. Stoner was pitched about 30-35 feet through the air, landed feet first in the grass and tumbled. Nicky didn't fly as high or as far, but landed on his head on the track. It looked like he was out for a couple of seconds. Spies also had a flying lesson. Shit track conditions. It looked bumpy as hell too.
