Oulton & Cadwell Double Header *Updated with pics and vids*

Just booked up for this.

Oulton on the 25th April with Easytrack..............................


.............then haul ass east for Cadwell Neil Hodgson day on the 26th with Focused Events.

Might do the Oulton one, but not going to book till nearer the time

I've never done Cadwell on a bike before. Dunno why but i'm not really fussed about it.................that might change once i've ridden it. More looking forward to trying Donnington tbh.

I'll get set up in A. By the time I get loaded up from Oulton, try and find some decent grub etc, and I think it's about 3hours east, I'll be there about 9pm. Are those the shower blocks at the top of A? Hope so coz I'll be honkin by the time I get there.

Not fussed about groups. Never been before so Inters is a safe choice. They can put me wherever they want though. Just looking for decent trackime. Still no overly fussed about Cadders. I'm sure that'll change once I've done it.

Well I finally caved in and had a look at the forecast Looks like I'm going to get a chance to test my wets guys. Bollocks! Is a dry day that much to ask for??? Seems so

Oulton looks ok, few light showers. Cadwell looks shite, heavy showers all day.

Is there room for an excitable Scotsman and his trusty trackslag?

I've just picked up a 3.5kv genny so we're sorted for power if it drys out.

Are you going to be there on the wed night Klinky? I'll prob be there for 9ish.

Well so far the weather forecast has been the same for my last 2 days then as its turned its been 1 wet session, 1 damp session then sun till the 2nd session after lunch, so it looks like the trackday gods are smiling down on me this year

I'm going to try and increase our odds of a dry day by getting my wets put on my spare wheels in a reverse jinx manoeuvre

Was hoping to pop down but im now at Coroners Court for a suicide job 11-1300 (hopefully) so may be able to get down after, will see. Have a fab time anyway chaps.

Good few days. Had a great laugh at Cadwell. Was good to meet up the the SD boys. All top blokes, nice and chilled and up for a laugh.

Oulton was totally pissing it down. Lots of stoppages form guys going down and cracking engine casings and covering the track in oil. Had 1 session, got absolutley soaked, then some dude in the novice group threw his Blade on it's ribs on the 1st fooking sighting lap!!!! Track closed for 2 hours to clean up the oil.

Only got about 4 sessions then packed up. Bike was working ok. Slipper is better with the plate change. 1st time on wets, was still finding my feet with them but overall pretty impressive. Had a good run in the last session with a guy from the TDR forum who races. He set off 10-15 secs before me so it gave me something for focus on and got me head down and tried to get a rythym going and reel him in, really enjoyed it. Caught and passed him on the last lap. Got it on vid, taking aaaaages to buffer though.

Cadwell was the better of the two days. 1st time i've been there on a bike so all new to me. It's loads steeper than it looks in the vids!!

2 wet sessions then a 1/2 dry sesh that i only did two laps in then came off coz i'm too tight to shag a set of wets on a part drying track. Changed to Interacts and took a session to run them in and try and get a feel for the place. Then had 1 dry session to try and get a run round and pick gears, braking markers etc. Was taking it too steady, not running it in hard enough on the front etc but better that then launch it on the 1st time there!

Goal was to crack a 1min 50. Just managed it and no more. GPS fooked up on dry session so not accurate but got a time off the vid. 1min 53's on running in tyres session. Then next session traffic on the lap, generally being a lazy and not going hard enough, wrong gears, comfort braking for no reason, completelty missing nearly every apex on the entire freakin circuit , but got a 1min 49.9. Happy enough, but at the same time a bit dissappointed as i can see where shit loads of time can come off that. Overall got be be happy though, only my 4th full trackday on the bike so baby steps, chip away with no more big offs and try and get better on it.

If your doing 1:50's on your first time at Cadders thats pretty darn good.

It's no Oulton Park.

I really like Barn to the Gooseneck. Mansfield to the Hairpin isn't too great. The left right before the mountain I do like. Hall Bends and the Hairpin are like an afterthought I think.

Got Donnington for the 1st time next month. Think I'll really like that. Can't wait.

Good to meet up with you Gordon also nice to see Bash and Klinck again,cracking vid's considering it was your first time at both tracks on your SD looks like you'll be the one to chase at this years crashfest. Even my wheelie black flagging tittle looks under threat from you in the near future, it'll be good to have someone to sit next to on the naughty step!
Strangely enough i too had a fantastic day watching and photo'ing you three blasting around Cadwell did'nt miss the riding as much as i thought i was going to.I suppose it makes a difference when you actually know someone out on track. Roll on the crashfest i'm already booked in
