I've got a good feeling the sun is going to shine on us all day m8

It's even looking better for next Wed and Snetteton now. These sun dances I'm doing are paying off

Awesome day and awesome weather!

NL ran a cracking day, hardly any loss of track time and a whole 8 spots of rain at 4pm!

Only gripe was they now sonund test so me and Clink had to split up as we set off the drive by sound tester and Clinky got black flagged for it

A bloody bargain at £89, i may have to nip back before the years out
Colonel_Klinck

Colonel_Klinck

That^^

Really good day but getting up at 4.30am is not the way to put in faster lap times as the day goes on. Session 2 had my fastest lap at 1.44 and change. Still had a great day, loved the new slicks. Lots of grip and after a full 7 sessions they hardly seem to have worn at all. And Rockingham is hard on the left handside of the tyre. Me likey

Good to see you Stew. Not good to see Rockingham with a 98db limit. Count it out as a Crashfest venue. We'd have the session red flagged within a lap as every db monitor starts going mad
stalker

stalker

tossers . .they think they can just chuck a 98db limit out there and people are gonna take it lying down like a pussy and just suck it up . without even putting up a fight .....

what did you tell them klinck ?

Pretty soon every trackday will be like most Gym chains; 'we've already had your money, what do you mean you want to use the facilities?'

Enduroland seems to be going the same way once you have paid it is any excuse to send you home with no refund or keep your tracktime to a minimum.

I think we have done enough to appease the noise nazis. Let us put some pressure back on the TDO's. If everyone states, at time of booking, my bike is tested at 102/104/105 db and I require a refund if unable to participate The TDO will have to pass that requirement on to the track owner and they will have to comply.

There are TDO's getting rich from sending people home early and stopping others from riding in an event they have prepaid for. I say enough is enough.

My personal view is also to include a disclaimer along the lines of ' I have previously attended a breifing at one of your events within the last 12 months and hence do not need to listen to your patronising waffle and belittling 'be on your best behaviour lads' speech again'

If everyone did this trackdays would still be 8 sessions of 3 groups with no bullshit attempts to steal time from us.

Nice one Stew. I just watched a couple of laps of mine and just kept thinking "oh ffs Craig man up!... get on the gas!.. no I said ON the GAS!!"

My weakest point by a county mile is getting on the gas out of corners I might have a chat with an instructor about it at Snett on Wed. Either that or see if anyone is selling any balls on ebay
scotsduke

scotsduke

KLINK CORRECT ME IF I,M WRONG but is it not when you get on the gas to early is when your sd(exc)spit,s you off
Colonel_Klinck

Colonel_Klinck

My EXC spits me off at any given opportunity m8 Its still sulking in the garage from the last time. SD has only spat me off twice and both were the front letting go at the apex. Not something I can blame on my throttle hand.

Yeah I know what you mean and it may have been a contributing factor in my crashes but its not what my main problem is. That appears to be lack of a big enough ball sack

Using Pirelli Diablo Superbike Pro Slick. Really good tyre, plenty of grip and hard wearing.

Russ. That's utter bollocks

You can lose the front in two ways. Too much load. Or unloading at the wrong time. Prime example, go and watch GoGos Laguna video. Every time he loses the front its on the throttle after the apex. My crash at Knockhill, on the throttle.

Can't be fooked to get into an internet debate about it but your talking shite again. Tbh there too much of this pish going on in here these days.

Please prove this theory to my be going into Island bend at Oulton flat in 5th, tip it on its ear, and let me know what happens.

Get on a trackday. Put in a decent time to prove yourself. Then I'll listen to your waffle.

To be fair to Russ, there is a rule of thumb employed by people like Roberts / Code that, in the dry, you won't loose the front if you're on the gas.
For the biggest part I would agree with that.

Of course, it's possible to disprove that rule, especialy if you have the special needs geometry of a superduke.

So you don't feel that it turns unusually quick? (Which is nice)
You don't feel a lack of feel if you decide to trail the brakes heavily into a corner? (Come to think of it you won't on the road.)

I like to trail the brakes properly at certain corners, obviously to reduce the distance between initial braking point and apex.
Like I said, it's not something you'd really do on the road.

Keith Code is a bigger drawback than an elephants foreskin.

Nobody is trying to turn it into a sportsbike at all. All that's happening is at decent track pace it shows a few shortfalls in the bikes basic design. It doesn't need much to dial these out. It's not a case of riding it like a sportsbike. It's a case of when a reasonable pace is reached a few certain basic riding techniques are required. Trail braking, loading the front, carrying corner speed at high lean angles. In these situations a few small features of the bikes design are at their limits.

It is fun. It's huge fun. That's why guys like myself are pursuing it. Because the bike, once a few tweaks are made, is very capable and a riot to ride. It's not like a finely tuned pure sportsbike. It likes to be ridden loaded up. It moves around, it bucks, it likes to be ridden hard and aggressively. The fun is getting mugged at the end of the straight by an R1 then out breaking it into the next corner and clearing off on the exit with the thing shaking, moving, and making all kinds of shapes.

Go back and read my posts. I never once personally insulted you or name called. Yet you seem to think it fine for you to drag insults into it now.

That second post was well constructed to explain to you why things are going in the direction they are.

I've not said anything here I wouldn't say to your face.

I did have a reasonable opintion of you until his thread tbh. But reading the way you've conducted yourself and the points you've made regarding riding its clear your not quite the man you try to make out.

Here's an open offer for you. Come and ride my bike. You seem to have such a strong opinion of the work I've done. Come and ride it. I'm down south at least once a month. Book yourself on and take it out. You portray an image of a guy who knows how to ride and knows a lot about set up. Fair enough. I've put 9months of set up work into it. Come and ride it.

Fair doos Russ. Tbh in real life I talk similar to my 1st post but I can see how aggressive it reads.

Doubt I'll be down as far as Snetterton as its 8hrs away. But if I am I'll let you know.

I have only seen rain there once during the day...(and I have been in February- Late October)......it rained (light rain) for half an hour and the track never got wet ....there was so much stored heat in the ground that it evaporated on contact

The tyres might last the whole trip....but would you want them to?

That's what I use to do....but its a better idea to change them after the First day or the second day...you will not get the benifit out of new tyres on the first day thats for sure...you will be learning the track (over half of the track flows from one corner into the next....so getting the right line is harder than it looks....but as there are so many lines around Almeria it is great for overtaking)

If you start off with new tyres...by the last day they will be past there best .....just when you needed / wanted them

The track is very abrasive....each to his own....... I use endurance rear (D211) The slicks and treaded are the same compound so very similar in grip...just the slicks have a bit more....if you have warmers then go for slicks

Most regulars use either Michelin or Dunlops (so much so that FE have stopped taking ANY Pirellis or Metzler tyres (FE tyre prices are not bad £275.00 for a set of Dunlop slicks....some times better as they do offers) so if you intend to use Pirellis or Metzler it will be worth taking a new rear...so you are running on a matched set rather than being forced to run what FE have in stock (front will last no problem)

This is an interesting take on the trend for hanging the leg out in corners

http://www.peterwilemanphotography.com/ ... il/1976552

.......but I thought it was meant to be on the same side you were leaning

I understand that Leon Hslam is interested in some tips.....
