Possibly, I'll have to wait and see if the van can be rebuilt, the cam chain went on it last night on the way home from Oulton

T..t..ttt..t..ttt tell me it's not a Vivaro

Yep 04 Vivaro 1.9 diesel.

Cam chain snapping is damned unlucky! Cam belts yeah but cam chains on a low revs diesel, I would have thought they were good forever. Hope it's not too expensive dude.

Oh and giving this serious consideration. Would like to squeeze 2 more in before The Fest

7 years in this job and I still ain't been to a Vivaro/Trafic/Primastar gearbox.

I've got a Trafic company van. Had it since 40miles and it's over 130,000 of utter abuse and still on original box and clutch.

Hence the reason I bought a Vivaro. If it breaks a chain and shits out a gearbox now I ain't gonna be happy.

Looking like swapping to Sunday was a good idea guys. Weather is definitely better than on Saturday.
Colonel_Klinck

Colonel_Klinck

Cancwl that I thought it was this Sunday I would have looked a right plonker pulling up at Rockingham this Sunday on my own.

still not that bad so far

though, there was three days of clear sunshine to the left, the other day
Colonel_Klinck

Colonel_Klinck

Don't look now as its fooking depressing

If it stays looking that bad I might knock it on the head. Rockingham is deadly for red flags in the wet and TBH riding there in the rain isn't top of my list of things to do. This summer might go down as the wettest in history. Personally I'm fooking sick of it!

Its why wets were invented dudez

Admititdly the place is lethal in the damp, but dry or soaking wet its fine!

I can't make up my mind what to do. It's looking like it will be wet all day but at least its not going to be 12mm of rain like it was a couple of days ago. Have to make up my mind tomorrow if I'm going to get my wets mounted.

Sunday is my only day off in a 14 day block. I'm only going there to learn 1/2 the circuit for the race and to set the bike up with the new suspension.
I ain't looked at the weather, but it's not going to be great doing a 13.5 hour round trip to get fook all usefull data on the track or the bike.

But you know what. I'm doing it anyway coz I'm not a sopping great lactating man boob. So if you ladies could stop exploding your vaginas all over the thread.

What will be will be.

Ok so that was a complete wash out We had a damp first session which ended with a red flag. Second session was dry and we were getting a fair lick on, Viking and myself almost had a coming together going into a corner. Wheels missed by inches but was all ok. Then red flagged. Then it proper pissed down and an early lunch was called. Went out on a soaking track for session after lunch. 3 red flags for people binning it as first corner. I went round there on a neutral throttle as the guy 30ft in front of me binned it and my rear stepped right out That was it, bike packed up and coming home. My opinion of Rockingham hasn't changed. Not a track to be ridden in anything but dry conditions. Such a shame as the National track is a fun flowing circuit. Good to see the guys though. Hope you got home ok Gordon. Seeing you pulling off by starting the van in gear due to the clutch master cylinder went on the way down did not make me envy your long drive home any more

It was shite.

Changed to the sunday on request from another forum member who then didnt even turn up. Had we kept the saturday we'd have had an earlier start, more sessions, and sunny dry track till lunchtime.

As it was. 6.5hr drive down and the clutch master cylinder shat its guts out just before the circuit. Got set up ok, good facilites there. Took a walk round the track but learned nothing apart from it even feels slippy walking on it.

Then all the usual wallopers turn up at 8am and for some unknown reason have to start their bikes to roll it from the van to the garages revving the nuts off it.
Went for noise testing and failed, then turned round to see the guy just holding the mic about 6" from the pipe. Bit of a debate asking him where the correct meter stick was but got no sense out him. Baffles in and it scraped by with said nobber cramming the mic right up the pipe.

1st session got 3 laps to try and work out which way the track goes then drizzle started.

2nd session did 4 laps pootling about and trying to run round getting a feel for the place and the bike with it's new susp. Passed Klink on the brakes but dropped it down to one too many into 2nd and had a wee wiggle. Plenty room from my seat but i think Klinky said after it was closer. Backed off to try and get some clear track to get my head down then saw the red flag.

Then it started raining so spat the dummy and packed up. Didnt want to hit any traffic on way home with no clutch.

So 13hours of driving and a full tank of diesel for 7 laps. Learned zero about the track or bike. 1st trackday really i've never took any steps forward with anything. Total waste of time and money. Still kinda looking forward to racing there. Main reasons being i think they'll drag me up to speed quickly and if its wet at least i'll have something worth crashing for.

Pish day, pish track, pish weather. One to forget.
