Old news. The more I read about Rossi, the less I find myself wishing good results for the GOAT.

I've never found Rossi all that amusing (or entertaining), Biaggi on the other hand ...

IMO he should've gone to F1 when he had the chance. And I'll bet anyone, anywhere - that the decision was entirely monetary. There's no way Rossi could need money at this point. No matter how one feels about the guy, let's just hope his career doesn't end tragically.

Why do people refer to Rossi as GOAT? At some point did he surpass Agostini's number of wins, and/or championships (including, IIRC, 8 in the premier class of his day) - news to me ...

fook off Stoner as GOAT. Yes he was and still could be an amazing rider. I'd love to see him come back as I love his style but 1 world championship on the duke and 1 for Honda does not make GOAT. He didn't even win a championship in the lower classes.

Interesting, I took Burgess' comments completely in the opposite way. I read it as Burgess thinks Rossi should retire and go home to mommy and daddy unhurt, because with his old age he is not a sharp as the youngsters. Ironic, considering Doohan was in his 30's when he won all of his championships with Burgess as crew chief. Rossi might have sensed Burgess as becoming a little slow in the head and it was bringing him down and the crew as well, which is why he let him go somewhat gracefully. At least he didn't go out in the media and say Burgess is a drunk, senile old man that he should have fired 4 years ago. The sport is much more technical now than it was 4 years ago. The Burgess types are out dated like the bikes from back then. Rossi went with a new crew chief who is a science nerd. Instead of having someone ask him "how does he feel?", he is getting someone saying "the computer says this, so we are changing that, deal with it". You are slow not because you are old, but because you suck, there is nothing wrong with the bike, so suck less and go faster. Doohan retired because he was too far injured for him to fully commit to go faster, Rossi is still healthy. Now the responsibility to go faster is purely in his shoulders, not what magic can the mythical Burgess conjure out of the machine for Rossi.
