#15For those who remember him at the peak of his powers rather than the rather sad comebacks they have so much in common.
The ability to roll out of the pits and just go immediately fast,
The ability to ride anything regardless of setup or handling issues and win on it.
I don't think any of us, not even Ducati, realised how fast he was until the GOAT got on the bike and went 2seconds a lap slower. Even now Rossi still can't get to within 1.2 seconds after almost a complete season.
One of the saddest things about watching Mick Doohan was that he outlasted the only people who could give him a real challenge (Lawson, Rainey, Garner, Schwantz) and retired before Rossi arrived. Man, I would have sold my house to travel the world watching Doohan v Rossi.
Having said that i think we are privileged to have so many truly fast riders in the championship at one time. Maybe next year we can get a genuinely competitive championship between the Aliens on the 1000s hopefully with Spies and Sideshow Bob taking a role as well.

#29The throttle control and balance required to do that lap after lap is beyond belief.
