Started my crash practice for the 'Crash Fest' early.
Got there in plenty of time. The new pits are nothing short of amazing massive and well equipped. They only opened a few garages because there was no need for any more.
Set the bike up. Tyre pressures, tyre warmers on and went to the briefing. My group was last out so plenty of time but forgot to top the oil up until the last moment so I missed the start of the sighting laps: Mark gave me my own guy and off we pootled.
Gentle left out of the pits, right, right onto hanger straight then right into the hammerhead, brake a bit and then turn left - straight down! No messing, no warning just slam!
Bike went down before the apex. Wasn't braking or riding that fast.
Couldn't work it out.
Seems someone tripped the power on the block I was using straight after I plugged in so I had stone cold D211 slicks on a cold track surface. Not much grip.
Damage was light.
Bent and scuffed crash bungs and a well scuffed bar end.
Rear set was bent in (of course) and the adjustable end of the gearshift was stuffed.
Bent it back in and cable tied the fairing as the dzus fastners had gone awol.
Made a new gearshift peg with some nyloc nuts and a bolt scrounged from some very helpful people.
Good to go!
Bike signed off
Off out to complete my sighting laps.
2 laps in : stuck in 2nd
Back in - gear shift rod was missing.
Finally managed to scrounge on the right length from a fellow SD owner (thank you Sir!) who was there on his RC8
Fitted.
