Wow, what a couple of days at Snett!
Got there nice and early 6.30 on Monday to find drizzly wet weather and a soaking wet track from the nights rain. Joined in with some of the TDR crew in garage 12, also including our very own Lawman. Klinck turned up shortly after, followed by Dubs.
Literally got unloaded, drag wheels out and get the wets put on Half hour later they're back in and i'm £25 down. Off to sign on, noise test no problem and onto briefing. Just about got everything ready for first sighting laps and then out we go. 3 slow laps, all fine. The get on it.
Three words, WETS ARE AMAZING! I still can't believe the grip and the daft lean angles. For someone of my ability I don't feel like it slowed me down much at all. Had 4 wet sessions in the morning and then off to lunch. As there was nobody I knew in Inters it wasn't quite as much fun but felt reasonably quick, lots of VERY SLOOOW guys out in the wet even on race wets. Anyway last morning session and for the first time ever, IN THE WET..... got my left knee down!!!!! What a time to do that???
Freestyler and Conrad turned up around lunch time on there too-homo and RC8 respectively, nice to put a face to the legend It fair to say that everything Klinck said is true What a character... Big sorry to Conrad who I pulled a bit of a forceful move on...
Lunch was good, spent time in between sessions going to wake Kerry up who basically slept in the car most of the time! and ate all my chocolate . So after lunch went out for the first session and it was drying out loads, so had to get ass-r@ped by the tyre man for another £25 and put the road tyres in. Missed a session and then went out for the last which felt slippy, fuel light came on. So day over. Packed bike and trailer in to garage next door so we could have more space for Tuesday. Off to b&b to watch the footie and get a chinese.
So Tuesday was dry, so another first was using tyre warmers. WARMERS ARE AMAZING TOO!!!! (if a bit of a faff) Klinck and Dubs had already turned up and the it was time to go through all the signon and briefing bollocks as usual. Have to say Nolimits are much better than FE at this. Sound test again, all Good.
Then just out on track as much as possible, absolutely no problems, moments or issues anymore. I love my bike now, and as many of you know it could have ended up in the skip many times before. The RC8 is awesome fast, and i'm slowly catching up with it, still get blitzed by the IL4 1000's though Used the lap timer on the bike on and off during the day and went from 2.40 in the morning Tuesday to 2.25 after lunch. I'm really happy with that for my first visit. Packed up about 4pm and headed off, as did everyone else.
Can I just say that the company was awesome as usual, Craig thanks for your help with the tools and levering out my brakes when I foolishly pumped it up before putting back on the fork Thanks for keeping Kerry company too. Your tales of Freestyler really made me giggle and its all true. Sorry about your clutch, I was looking forward to a session trying to follow you around, look forward to your vid of me. Ronin turned up and gave a sneak preview of his latest tirade against Dribbleduke, class. Dubs, what a great bloke. ( never 31! ) Move up to Inters mate, you'll never look back! Your pass on the M25 was something special...
Now FREESTYLER, FREESTYLER, FREESTYLER! You never got round me on my RC8 I passed you in 2 seperate sessions. we both have video evidence of me coming past you, sorry Klinck I forgot the "royal" wave but upheld the KTM banner. Sabre he was indeed hiding in Novice group The excuses crack me right up!!!! Anyway nice to meet the legend that you are Mark. Good vid of you and Dubs, I enjoyed watching it. I'll try and get some video edited too.
Bloody long drive home, took 4 and half hours after all day on track. Still feel battered.
So all in all a cracking birthday over 2 days at Snett, roll on crashfest so we can do it all again!
