As far as I know there is no official KTM day, so anyone going to get the ball rolling for this? oh ok I will Focused Events are doing the following:

Date for trackday:
Wednesday 26th August


£89 for either of the two dates and lots of places currently.

I will gladly go with consensus of opinion and just get the day off (if I dont have it off), if im working there is plenty of time to organise it as I hope you guys could too.

I have made the presumption it's Cadwell but if anyone else wants to do any other let me know. Will gladly cross post this in KTM forum if we get a date and turn the track orange. (after we have booked of course )

Put your name down and will add it on the list, once we have date planned will update thread and we can all pay once date decided.


If enough interest is generated quickly will see if Focused will make it a KTM one like last year.

I know Dubai is the most westernised gulf state but I doubt it is ready for DP and his proclivities.

Do you guys all use tyre warmers for track days? Would heat cycles have a big effect on 2CTs? There are some cheap-ish deals on fleabay and i'd consider a purchase if its a big save for tyre life

For those who asked about electricity.

From my TD the other day there were people who had hooked up to the mains power supply in the scruteneering bay (stewards etc did not mind), there was standard electric box on the wall, you would need a fair length of cable and a multi adapter as it seems a popular point to hook up.

I can get 2 to 3 bikes in my van but would be a squeeze. I also have a towbar and can borrow a trailer but single bike only. So I can take 2 riders and 3- 4 bikes. I havent pulled a trailer with it before so I had better get the electrics checked before the day.

My van is not quick though about 60mph max, probably slower with more than 2 bikes and me aboard. So I will plan to head up on Tues pm. I havent booked accom yet either so i had better get on to that.

MSV also ask for an indemnity form to be completed if they see your camera.

That's why I hide mine under the headlight cowl.

Basically they want a slice of the action if you catch anything interesting.

I have a gazebo. I did have a genny til some of the pillocks I employ got it nicked Never mind I have a mate who runs a hire shop so he will most likely loan me one.

If you hire / buy a generator make sure it puts out at least 1kw if you want to run tyre warmers off it. Hire ones should be well over this (and Honda engined) It is only if you are tempted by a cheap chinese one from e bay, Lidl etc. 2kw plus is better and dont forget the kettle.

If you are buying get a petrol one you will aready have that for the bike.
If you are hiring it will most likely run on diesel - remember to bring some unless you fancy trying to syphon some from your hire van.

I had to sign a disclaimer when I used my gopro camera with FE, they said there is no problems with YOUTUBE but you just cant make any money off it, not that anyone would pay to watch my TD footage.

They also said that if anyone hurts themselves or I damage anything by means of the device falling off etc I am liable. He said that Palmer bloke who owns all the tracks would have my pants down if I did.

So I was wondering, only done a full day event once before and that was on my gsxr which I just filled up with Petrol at lunchtime but how many times do you reckon I'm gonna need to fill up with petrol on my 05, every 3 sessions, lunch time?

I know I made the 3 sessions at Brands ok and had to fill up after but can't remember if we got full sessions or not.

I'm thinking perhaps a std plastic jerry can would do to just top up for the 4th session assuming it's 3 one side of lunch and 4 the other so then I'd only have to go out to the station at lunchtime.

To be frank, we'll do the logos but it's up to the T shirt guy where he prints them on the shirt, we'll just supply the logos in EPS files at an appropriate size for him to use directly on the shirts.

10 things I learned from the trackday and assosiated festivities.

1.) Superduke owners are truly a top bunch of lads
2.) SD's crash well
3.) I need some wet weather tyres
4.) The curry tasted worse on the way out
5.) Superduke Anglesey 2010 is on
6.) Remember to press record on the PVR on the only full dry session
7.) People always look different to what you expect
8.) When the chips were down heads were still held high, respect.
9.) Good to know my money I always put into local air ambulance gives a good taxi ride.
10.) Saved my first SD "moment" and dont fancy another too soon.

1. top day, marred by a couple of incidents , but Dan is right..they do crash well!!!
2. wasnt too impressed with the intermeadiate groups track manners..i do generally think, northerners are more aggressive than southerners on overtakes..
3.I had forgotten how technical the circuit is and took me most of the day to relearn it after an 8 year absence
4. northern curry houses are better than southern ones
5. Ash is built like a brick shithouse top bloke!
6. every last one of the guys from this forum and guests were fantastic and i would be proud to call em true friends
7. didnt have my cheque book to by an old zxr750 for a track hack that was for sale (£395)
8. Dont forget your keys going to a trackday..my mate paul had to go back to london to get his, and then only did 4 laps the whole day as all he had was slicks!!
9. Petrol Generators should be noise tested too!!! i have ringing in my ears
10. Dont try and overtake in Hall bends on the inside in the wet...doh

Had a fantastic day despite the weather. All SD riders are top/nice bloke's,unfortunately two came off and i wish you both a speedy recovery.

Got some good video footage 1x wet and 2x dry session's just need to sort them out without an christmas tree at the beggining

Especially enjoyed dicing with Bigash,even though he got past me ( lucky move mate ) i am guilty of being to polite in my overtake's and left the door open and got and spanking for it Fair do's though a pass is a pass mental note to self be alot more aggresive on the IL4's during overtake's

Let's get Anglesey sorted for next year

Just back myself. Picked up Dan aka Motoronin for hospital and he was given all clear which is good news

Fantastic to meet more of the boys from here. Everyone of them being a top bloke. Really must do this again soon, next time maybe get pissed the night after the track day and not the night before. Man i felt like poo this morning

First track day for me and man am i hooked Cadwell is fantastic and once the track dried it is SD heaven Didn't manage a Sabre style wheelie over the mountain (i wish i had the skill and balls) but did get it a few inches up a few times.

Here is a quick pic of me. Didn't get my knee down Next time it's going to happen! Will post up some others of peeps tomorrow. Also got video footage of 3 sessions.

Just whipped the bandage off. Friction burns, swelling and the bruising is coming out nicely, give it a few days and that arm will be purple

The tricep is mush, I can barely use the arm.....and I STILL had fun, go figure huh!!

gonna have to get one of them little cameras..i have a bullet cam but its got about a mile of cable with it and needs 8 x AA batteries..and then you need somewhere to stow the pvr box to record it on...it was ok on my Beemer as i had a garage under the seat..not so on the sdr once the alarm is fixed...

Here's a small vid of a wet session,which aint that clear for obvious reasons. I'll point out now that i and a few other's had wets fitted so to all those who ventured out on standard tyre's i take my hat off to ya it must have taken real balls to ride out in those slippy wet conditions on your pride and joy's.

Here's a still of what the conditions were like,i had my KTM wet suit with MC Hammer style baggie trouser's on (i want be wearing them again,not on track anyway )

Another short vid, of Bigash catching me napping behined a couple of slower rider's, he took all three of us round the outside it gave me a wake up call but was unable to get him back got to get them northern overtake's in early
I'm running 16/38 gearing and he's 16/40 both on wet's looking for the wetter parts as the track was dry in place's.

If we were as fast as those guys the we would be out there racing, simple as!!!

Im not the slowest rider out there but i bet if you stuck me on Dave Woods bike with sponsers cash and said go out, do your fastest and it doesnt matter if you crash, i bet i still couldnt get within 10-15 seconds of his lap times!!!

Racers are different breeds, they see things differently to us , they have better feel than us, they have quicker reactions than usand il bet they have less fear than us. These things are genetic and i dont beleive you can learn these things from either a school or from years of riding!!! (thats not to say you cant improve and get quicker, i just dont think you ever get to a racers standards!!!)

Bit of the old question nature of nurture Stew....

I think a lot of racer/riders have started from an early age when your young your obviously take a lot more in, crashing just means a few weeks of school if your break something, ive wathed some kids motocrossing they just have no fear, transfer that to the track hey presto.

It takes someone special to be really fast.

Personally I blame my dad not buying me a motocross bike when I was 4, that why im not the next Rossi

Agree experience and practice can make you quicker doubt now I could ever be as fast as the racers but would still be interested to see how fast I could go.

Always makes me laugh when I hear racres talk about slight adjustments to suspesion or how they can feel the difference in a different swingarm etc, I can tell the difference between the sport settings and road ones on the duke but could not say, "hmmm think I need some more rebound on the rear".

I think the main things to being super fast racer is being started young, having the support of racing young and back up from your dad with thier knowledge, and no fear.

Have seen a lot of over competative Dads at race meets for mx, was watching some 5 y/o going round with a gi huge helmet, clearly pottering around, Dad was watching him shaking his fist as the other kids were overtaking him, then Dad was walking the bike back to the pits with son beside him saying "your either on the throttle or on the brakes, you dont coast around!" was right having a go at him, I was thinking to myself he is only 5 just let him have some fun...
