Twas an awesome day although I feel like I used to after the 1st rugby game of the season. My poor, not so young anymore body
Amazingly it was dry and didn't rain a drop all day. As we left London it started raining and was a monsoon all the way until about 15 miles from Warwick and it dried up
Dave had his new 08 450 EXCR to play on after ebaying the 400XR after just 2 days on it. We did tell him kick start is going to do your head in. Somehow he got nealry £200 more than he paid for it.Some poor ebay sucker At least he seems a lot happier on the EXC than the XR
First 2 laps were rubbish. Felt totally alien again and I was riding like a girl which isn't the way to ride a dirt bike. Weight over the back wheel and pin it all comes back to me 2nd time out. Then the first big crash of the day Gunning it up an open bit of lane and at the end I was braking hard but hadn't totallyu chopped the throttle and by the time I realised this it was too late. Front washed out and down I went like a sack of shite. Picked myself up and rode on with bars facing one way and the wheel the other That was an awkward 1/2 a lap back to the pits.
Took on the water hazard after straightening the front wheel back in line with bars. No problems first time and went through and up, cool and the gang.
It was in the afternoon that my big one happened. Was hooning round trying to stay with Jason, which is easier said than done. On a bit of lane after a tight section and boom! Suddenly the bike goes from underneath me and I hit the deck like a sack of shite. This one did hurt. I pick myself up, a guy stops and gives me a hand. He tells me I hit a rock sticking out of the lane that I just didn't see. Hit that hard that the front tyre is flat from a compression puncture and the bars have reverted to an opposite direction again Ginge stops to check I'm ok. Points out the puncture and I limp back to the pits with all weight over back wheel. Thank fook for body amour as without it I'd be going to A&E with shoulder and elbow injuries. Bike is not that happy either. Broken clutch lever, rightside rad is creased in but at least not leaking. Exhaust is bent in (not another ) but crow bar sorts that out.
Ginge and Jason are stars and have my inner tube changed in 10 mins. Cheers guys I really appreciated that
I decide against my better judgement to do 2 more laps. Foolish really as I tore ligaments in my shoulder playing rugby, that is part of the reason I gave it up. I can feel I've tweaked them again but fook it, it will be ok. Anyway I head across the water hazard and fail to get up the otherside. Foot down but right arm/shoulder can't take the weight and both I and the bike end up in the river. Fooking soaked Ginge and Jason are behind me and must be pissing themselves laughing. They get through and then help me out with the bike. That's the last time I'm going through there today! Manage to do the two laps but at a more sedate pace which doesn't feel right at all.
Was a fooking good day though. Everyone had fun. Ginge and Jason were as fast and competitive as ever Andy is an old, old m8 that I bought the EXC off. He was quick enough round there on the Adventure. Once he got on a EXC again he was gone. I couldn't get near him. I think he is regretting selling it now as he offered me £500 more than I paid for it
Next tiem out hopefully Dan will be back Ginge and Lee will be mended as well. Burger Bar Boys will be back in full force
Tell Jason thanks again for the inner tube. I'll sort him one out.
Oh I almost forgot... I see Ginge forgot to post a pic. Here he is tarting with Enduroland skirt
