He charged me 250 quid cash but half of that went on the paint as he has to buy it in larger quantities than 1 set of bodywork would require.

Get a black tail unit, scuffed is fine, I paid 65 quid for mine and saw one go a little later for about half that. There are a couple of unmarked ones asking 100 quid plus though.

Andy will still have enough paint so you should only get hit for his labour.

I have the battery box stickers in white but dont really fancy fitting them as, even to my eyes, they dont match the paint colour. So I am gonna buy a new battery box and get it sprayed all white in the new year.

Just got a text from Big Toby, ex of this forum, so maybe an enduro meet up at Golding Barn or Eastbourne in the New Year.

That all sounds good buddy but the 450 only weighs a few kg more than a 250! If it was like 20 or 30kg then id understand....maybe its my lack of experience but not much weight and more power seems a fair trade. I dont have much trouble with the throttle so can reign it in.....or is there something else i cam missing in all this?

Im more than happy with a lighter more versatile bike, believe me! I like the smaller 4 strokers, but i dont want a 2T.

It's more how exhausting it can be to ride when its wet and muddy m8. You fully experienced that at Enduro Kent. The less powerful bikes are just less hard work. Those 250 in Spain were so easy in comparison, were a bit too underpowered though. If we were all shit hot it wouldn't be such an issue. Not suggesting you buy a smaller CC bike. Just saying if I was doing it again now I'd be tempted by a smaller capacity.

A friend of mine had the same problem with a 200 EXC. It seemed to be the plug cap. Tried silcone sealant, and tried original spark plug, I think. It really seemed to be the plug cap. But eventually, it turned out the CDI unit was the problem.

I've seen this before.
The problem with your 400 is this... all KTM dirt bikes come with a "mangina detector" that turns it off. Obviously the one on your bike is working perfectly.
It sensed that you have never ridden a dirt bike before (due to the size of your mangina) and it kept dieing. As a result you pushed it and your mangina started to shrink.

The answer is simple... keep pushing that beastie all around the forest until your mangina shrinks up. Or you die.

Once the mangina shrivels up and falls off, your 400 will run like this...
