I am jonesing for dirt. Haven't ridden a bike in weeks. Super Duke is all taken apart, new baby in the house, final exams, ice on the roads, blahblahblah. Needed to take a look at some trail riding pics to tide me over until I can get the 450 out in the woods.

Awesome, what a beauty! Black rims rule. I have a sumo wheelset for mine as well. Riding it on the street really helps me get in touch with my inner negligence.

Looks like some nice woods riding out there in Boston! My next bike will be a two stroke, they can be street legalized here in Washington now. Is that a 300 EXC? How do you like it?

The 300EXC is an insanely great bike in the woods. Especially if you carry a little extra weight like me.

I'm actually on a Yamaha WR450 now (not the YZ in the picture, a newer one) and surprisingly I like it a lot too. I can never make my mind up on bikes anyways.

I used to run around off road on a couple of bikes in the winter a few years ago. Always kept falling off and packed it in when I went off a 40' cliff in Turkey on a KTM 525.

I rode a KX500 in the woods around here back in the late 90's. That thing almost killed me a few dozen times.

When I moved from Canada to Germany a few months ago, I sold both my WR250X and my DR650. Both were terrific bikes after spending a few bucks on upgrades. Living in Berlin now, I don't expect to do much dual sport / offroad riding in the near future --- so I picked up a Super Duke. It's awesome in totally stock form (well, except for the tall gearing).

Been a very very long time since I was last on a dirt bike. Raced and finished the 1983 Barstow to Vegas Hare & Hound (still have finisher pin,) then raced a few times in early 1984 before selling bike and moving to Arizona. Picture was taken during a race in early 1984 as a member of the 100's MC, on board a 1982 KTM 495.

Wow, loving all of these. Hey Motojunkie, couple of well set-up dual sports you had there. What suspenders did you have on the front of that DR? Love the crash vid and the tyre hop shots!

I suck at log crossings. Didn't help that my old 620 RXC weighed 320 pounds..

It sucks for the skiers and snowboarders, but this warm winter has made some of the best trail riding conditions ever. Spent yesterday at the local spot, which is just big enough for me to get lost, find a new trail, and discover something weird every time I ride here. Yesterday's weird find was this Lawnmower Cemetery. These six dead mowers were parked in a row next to the trail, miles from any road. An outdoor museum of small engine workhorses perhaps?

That is the TE250. He also has the SM510 and a SMR450 race bike. Dude loves him some Husky.

Welp, entered my first timekeeper enduro on Sunday and got my ass severely kicked. It rained about four inches in two days and the course was a swamp! Never ridden in more challenging conditions. Quite a few sections were incredibly slow and a few were unrideable to most of us; in one spot I ended up stopping to help several guys drag their bikes through a mud pit because they were blocking the course..

All in all, a super fun and well organized event- timekeeping is rather complicated when you're soaked, bleeding and physically destroyed! The best riders were simply amazing to watch, hammering out the long course. Dougfir's 300 two smoker was the weapon of choice out there, my thumper was feeling a bit bulky! Probably should pull the turn signals off...
