Thinking of selling the bike!

been thinking about this now for a couple of weeks and im convincing myself the more i think about it....

selling the 07 sdr and replacing it for a similar age 530 exc champions edition, i would get the supermoto wheels for it and make it the bee's knees on the road and also do a lot of enduro riding.

opinions....good idea? bad idea? best of both worlds?

A 530 would be an excellent bike to have BESIDE the SD990.

The sd990 can do hooligan rides, twisties, comutting, travel at speeds

The sd990 can't be as light and nimble, ride the dirt as the 530.

Personally if I had to have only one bike, it would be the sd990, but I don't ride the dirt...

If your rides are near your house and have a lot of tight corners or dirt riding...get the 530.

If not...i believe you'll miss the LC8 engine under you

The 530 will be good on the road, but only when you ride the right road.

Any runs you have on the SD will be crap on the SM.

Small tank range can make the SM a pain, but to be honest only you can tell whether it's worth it.

I would love to be able to run both but sadly I can't. My friend iss selling his xr650 which I wouldn't mind having and its not the 1K that's the biggest problem its the insuring it, taxing and running it that I can't afford to do. I would really love a 530 for road and off road but at the same time I'd regret selling the sd but at the same time I think I'd regret not doing it and getting the exc!

Seriously from experience it will all end in tears (and breaks) so keep the SDR! I found myself acting even more of a tit when I had the Enduro bike than when we all sold the road bikes cos we all had too many points on our licenses.

Got cocky, big jump, bad leg-break, 4 months unpaid.....bad times.

Still think the SDR is the most fun you can have on 2 wheels.

Mind you your bike seems to like the grass, so maybe you're a natural off road!

Ha ha I knew I could count on you for a flymo dig lol. I'd be doing a lot of off roading yeah but I'd get some super moto wheels as well so I'd be on road as much. Trying to get a hold of super dan to speak to him as he's done the same as I'm thinking of doing with the sounds.

iv made my mind up......im afraid the bike is going, its to pay an old 3.5k debt off and make way for a an 08+ 450/530 exc / supermoto.

my question is will me stripping it back to standard and selling the mods off separate make much of a difference to the price i will get compared to selling it as it is?

Its always best to sell it standard Tom, its a hassle to change everything over but you'll get more money in the end.

Theduke, good for you. This way you do what you really want and that's what's important.

In the worst case cenario, you'll have fun in the winter with the 530 and be looking for a SD next spring eehhe

Well if you are returning the SD to stock to sell it, I would love the Akro's, but I'm in the States and the shipping is probably prohibitive?

After about 3 week of doing nothing but think about selling the old girl and getting a 530 i went out last night for a couple of hr and absolutely fell back in love with her. working out my finances yesterday afternoon i think i should be able to keep the sdr and ALSO be able to afford a 450 exc mid to late next year so thats the route im taking.
