690SMC and especially 690SMR ticks the boxes for me mate stunning.

I also really like that one. But for motard training the bike need to crash well and the SMR is more a street bike...I think The SMC looks different with pipes under the seat (see pic)...so maybe better for motard training And weighs 15kg less (but the EXC is only 110kg).

The DRZ400 is by far he most dangerous of the bunch..........good chance you'll fall asleep riding it and fall off, I had one, bored me half to death!

Grendel is in the process of setting up his 530 exc to do SM and dirt duties. Go with the 530. With that little true street use, you will appreciate having way less weight to throw around on the track.

Well, picked up my SMR on Sunday. Drove 1250km in one day to get it (and that's Norwegian km's not German Autobahn km's. Those of you who have been in Norway, especially western part, know what i mean).

Anyway, was home 5am and was at track trying it 5pm. And what a bike It's so easy to steer it's a laugh And with slicks and 32 degrees the grip was unbelievable. Obviously I can be a lot tougher but at the end of the day I at least got my knee down in most curves (not tried the cross style with leg out yet ). Really cool doing knee downs in tight hairpins

I thought it was a SMC at first (as shown at beginning of thread). But looking closer it looks like a 690 SM with under seat cans Certainly looks better than the slightly goofy vertical ones. So checking the KTM web site I see they do offer these under set ones. Makes the 690 SM even more interesting And would think they are better protected in a crash as well.

Is that your SM, Bodge?

Nah not mine - found it fishing on the net... I have a Duke but that SM is indeed a looker [never thought I would say that!]

Here's my bad boy.
525 SMR brought up to 613cc, knocking out 72bhp. Pretty much every upgrade has been done...slipper, adjustable triples, dev-tech swinger, tubeless wheels, etc.
Hope to get it road reg'd fairly soon for some back lane fun.

The main roads are clear of snow, still dusty and water from the snow melting. But snow is melting fast so will probably have my first ride of the year this weekend

So in an attempt to get in shape and loose some weight I took my push bike for a ride and checked out the gocart track. Wasn't quite as good as i hoped even though they had done a lap clearing snow

The start didn't look to good

Plan to start riding Supermotard there 20. April...so hopefully it will melt by then. Snow banks might work as soft gravel traps though

Millar - that's a sweet looking SMR! I reckon that would eat my Aprilia for breakfast!

Have you replaced the wheels or used a tubless kit on the excels?

Pingvin - Hopefully some of that white stuff disappears before the first ride! I'd be wrapping myself in tyre warmers!
