Does anyone know if the new 07 SD fuel tank fits on to an 06 model without an need for a mod?

There is a carbon 20 lt tank for the 05 and 06 models. Ifit suits you. So I guess no the original 07 doesn't fit. I thing because of the difrent location of the fuel pump

I have the same question but it can't be answered yet. The parts info for the 2007 model is not available yet.
However, the chance that the 07 tank will fit the 05 & 06 models is pretty high. For an 05 model it's 99% certain that you'll need a new fuel pump & level sensor too. For 06 models you might be able to just fit the tank. We'll just have wait a while before this comes clear.
But consider this, a 07 tank PLUS fuel pump & sensor are still cheaper than a 20ltr. carbon tank! And looking better too IMO...

Some Photoshop work from large hi-res pictures. Black 06 vs. 07. When you blend the images over each other the tank/seat area aligns perfectly. There's a pretty good chance the tank will fit IMO. I do think the 05/06 bike looks cleaner and tidier but that's personal.
Another thing is the difference in paint. The 07 is more glossy then 05 and 06 so this won't exactly match the side panels, front fender and mask.
The K in Duke is restyled, now matching the tankpad already available for a year(...) and 990 moved forward. Small details that mean new part# but says nothing about fitment to previous models. The new heel-plates are no improvement IMO.
