1290 R&G Tail Tidy Review

Have just spent the day fitting and eventually modifying the R&G tail tidy.

On the surface this a very neat unit however not perfect. It is not perfect because R&G must have decided re-use the original indicators but not the plate illuminator. Instead, they supply a new branded illuminator that uses it's own wiring and connectors. If they had just used the original it would have been entirely plug-and-play and installed in 10 minutes. Instead, because I have an aversion to cutting bits of loom I modified the illuminator plate (drilled two holes in the correct position and enlarged the loom pass-through) and am waiting for the paint to dry. Once mounted it will appear to be the R&G product but using all original cables.

Drilling the holes was a real PITA because of all the angles making it hard to clamp down.
It's pressed mild steel and I wonder why they didn't make it from aluminium?

As I say I can't quite understand why they chose to do the half hearted thing but ultimately it will be very tidy. Score 6 out of 10 for installation. 8 out of 10 for function. 3 out of 10 for price but KTM is even worse
I had a similar experience but wired up the illuminator in a more simple fashion using the included connectors. Needed a bit of work but nothing too crazy. Wasn't that easy installing but once I got the hang of it it didn't take too long. I think it's the best looking aftermarket Tail Tidy, loads better than the KTM powerpart.

Here's a pic of my bike with the tail tidy:

I have a brand new KTM 1290 tail tidy if anyone makes me a decent offer!
Any chance of a photo from behind at about car driver eye level, with the lights on? Looks like it might obstruct the rear light a wee bit?
much tighter to the bike than the PP version. Here's some pictures for comparison.

Got a tail tidy from R&G Racing myself.
Did modify it to get the OEM connectors..

nice rear !
Love the back of the 1290r! But the side is my favourite profile..

The front I still don't get at all. From the side the front nose makes sense but from dead front on it doesn't look like a sportsbike, or a naked, or anything else for that matter. It confuses me, still haven't worked out what feeling I get from the front.
