1290R composite brake discs

FWIW I just spoke with someone who sounded like a jefe in BrakeTech. I'd called them to see if they're still working on AXIS/CMC™ Rotors which would be significantly lighter than stock. (Remember, I'm an old fat guy who is anal-retentive about his bike's weight!)

Summary: They're still working with a large, credentialed aerospace fabricator type corporation who is also considering getting into the production of composite discs for cars.

In the mean time they're also devoting substantial resources into upgrading their other product lines which might give us an alternative to KTM PP rotors. Maybe we'll soon have a better choice!

They have their axis irons available for the 1290 and have for quite some time now.

They've been working on the next gen CMC's for so long now its not even funny. I have sourced a set but as I was told, "you are very lucky, I know guys that would kill their entire family for these disc's!".

Its not a straight bolt on either, the previous CMC's are 5mm thick and the current semi-narrow band Irons for the 1290 are 6mm thick. Obviously both have carriers to suit their blade applications. So long story short IF you can find a set of 330mm CMC's you'll have to have the carriers machined, which is what I'm doing.
