A few nights ago I got a screw in my tyre... again . It looked like just a flesh wound so I checked to see if air was leaking from around it and sure enough it was. I took it to a garage and asked the guy to plug it. He said he tried it, but it was still leaking a little bit so he didn't bother. Rather than buy a new rear at £155 I went to a different garage to check the pressure in it. The guy had pumped it to 43psi so I took it down to 34psi just as I've always run it and rode for about 45 mins to see if it went down at all. When I checked again it was still 34psi so I was chuffed to say the least.
Next day, I check the tyre before riding to work on my normal route - feels solid. First proper corner I get to and it feels spongey. This is where the confusion begins. When riding in a straight line it seems fine and I can feel the road surface I'm riding over perfectly but as soon as I lean it over it feels like it's slightly deflated. Accelerating out of corners feels even worse, as though the carcass is like jelly.
This is far from confidence inspiring as you can imagine. It's almost as though it's not the same tyre.
