Hi, I have fitted the Akra Evo's to my SD and not got the remap yet due to the nearest dealer wanting £200 to do it.I went out for a run today and it is much better than the standard exhaust, does anyone know if it is ok to use it or will it be running too lean.I left it to idle for twenty minutes after fitting the cans so that it could reset itself.I have read conflicting reports of them running rich or lean, what do you think? I have not removed the baffles. With a previous bike, an R1, I did not need to remap it when i fitted an Akra exhaust.Any advice would be appreciated.

£200? that's off the wall.

Give M&S in Newcastle a call to see what they will charge you, then report your dealer to KTM.

Not sure about the 20 minutes thing, can someone explain exactly what that does? (I'm fitting my pipes soon)

I beleive the 20 min tickover 'reset' is for when the ecu has had a remap, I remember the discusion with the dealer. Talking of the Akra remap, because you can only buy the Akra's from KTM, arn't you supposed to get it mapped free? Or is that only if you let the dealer fit it? £200 is a rip off, you should contact KTM and tell them. Best way to deal with these wan*ers is to let your wallet do the talking, and take your custom elsewhere, beleive it or not, there are some good dealers out there.

As said, it's important to get the Akra map with the cans.

A dealer asking that kind of money to load a fuel map should be de-authorised by KTM immediately. Or at least get both his arms broken in a dark alley... This is a 5 minute job and the fuel maps are free to download from the KTM dealer website.

I would complain to KTM in your country about this. I don't think KTM wants their dealers to treat their customers like this. But where did you buy the Akra cans? Remapping comes together with the cans.

After loading a new fuel map it is CRITICAL to do the reset/calibrate procedure on the ECU. This is done by letting the bike idle for 16 minutes standing UPRIGHT (not on the side stand, not sitting on it) and WITHOUT touching the throttle. With a cold engine this can be done anywhere. With a warm or hot engine this should be done with cooling, for instance on a dyno with the blower on.

This procedure is optional

I bought the cans on Italian ebay from the same dealer as dougon2wheels,unfortunately though there are no KTM dealers in Glasgow the nearest being Thomas the ripoff merchant.I will get in touch with KTM uk and see if they can help.Trevor.

was quoted £25 plus vat at my local (ish) dealer her in birmingham for the "Akro" map even though i have leo vinci cans fitted..... i just need the map that suits a decatted system regardless whether i have the akro pipes or not..... but the power commander looks the way to go for me at the moment as the bikes been running fine on the standard cat map,but i will change that come the new year.

I got the round race cans. part no. 61005099000

One thing that may be of relevance, I'm still running it in, so keeping it under 6500rpm. (Mainly under 5k).

1st service is end of Jan, so I'll see what they come up with then.
