Is the ethanol mix in Aussie petrol 10%?
Just wondering how compatible the maps are with euro spec bikes

Hey Rob,

I think in Australia 95 and 98 oct does not have ethanol but we do have E85 with 10% ethanol which is equivalent of 94 oct

All bikes in OZ run 95 and above, nobody uses's fuel with Ethanol unless your a muppet

We can still choose.
Most pumps have 95 or 95 E, the E one is the ethanol mix one. I avoid it like the plague as it is shit and ruins your bike and car fuel system.

I put the 98 octane in the bikes, mostly BP Ultimate as some bikes don't seem to like shell. Don't know why but the husky ran crap on shell.

I guess most maps for Oz should work with European bikes as they are mostly the same.

To be honest I dont feel any difference between 95oct with 10% ethanol mix or shell v-power other than my wallet gets a little lighter.
Its very common to use e85 in highly tuned cars here as you can have a much more aggressive ignition and boost, its not uncommon to pick up an extra 100-150 hp on a 6-700hp car, and the combustion chamber gets sooooo clean
I did a ethanol map for my bike many years ago, it ran fine but i had to stop at every gasstation i passed to refuel
If i had a choice though I probably would run on "clean" petrol too.

When I was in afghanistan last year and smelled the petrol they had and I remembered how the fuel smelled in the 1980...lead and highly polutant

Like Guy I only run BP Ultimate 98 (most guys I know do the same).
Not many places here in West Oz sell methanol blends, well none of the majors at least but I have noticed some 100 octane available at one of the smaller outlets.
Anyone used this?
Like robban75 I find it pretty hard to notice the difference between 95 and 98.

BP 98 as well I even run it in my scooter.
I won't touch any fuel with ethanol in it this crap can make your fuel tank brittle and crack on weed wackers and lawn mowers so what's it doing to your car or bike.

IMO Aus 95 Octane is all that is needed, 98 is a waste of $ on a bike with factory ignition timing. 1290 manual warrants 95 octane, but more so Kev runs and tunes his bikes on 95 with great results. I see no benefit from 98.
