Battery maintenance

Hi Guys,

I know there has probably been many posts about this over the years but I wondered how many of you have battery or trickle chargers on your bikes.
If you do what have you got, what problems have you had with them or what is the best thing about it.
I ask as I have to buy a new one as what I was using was not reliable and finally it has given up.
Thinking about getting an optimate but there are so many of them.

Used my Optimate for years, never let me down and yet to have a battery die on me. Tempting fate saying that

Got 4 optimates, they run untouched for up to 6 months at a time, never had a single problem

I havnt ridden the bike or even started it or anything since last July (2012) when i did 1 session at a wet cold slippery day at Rockingham, it sat all winter in a cold unheated garage and i only got round to starting it yesterday - spun over strong and started within seconds

ive had a stock battery for 5 years was going on six, and had intended of replacing it this year which i did because the reg/rec failed and i replaced both at the same time.
i replaced the battery with another Yuasa because it worked out so well. ive always used a Battery tender, no problems.

ive had 3 Battery Tenders, and they work great. one was stolen, i gave another to my brother, and im on my third, been using then for 20 years.
