Hi All,
Just tried refreshing the Magura blood in the clutch. Bought the bike recently and had no idea what fluid is in the clutch but it was not as red as blood. Ordered a set on fleabay, came with 2 syringes and an additional nipple. Of course the piece of hose supplied did not fit over the standard nipple on the slave, and the supplied nipple had different thread so didn't fit in the slave, the joys of Fleabay. I had some silicon tubing that did fit over the standard nipple and also on the supplied hose.....longer hose and a bit more flexible....
Took off MC cover, emptied old liquid as much as possible. Filled the syringe with blood and hooked up the hoses to the slave nipple. Opened the slave nipple and tried to press the blood upwards.....messy all around and could not really get fluid in the system, guess the hoses did not connect tightly enough. Tried the other way around; filled the MC with fresh blood and tried to suck it down....lots of air in the syringe....might stil be too loose fit of the hoses...so started pumping the fluid through the system. When clear fluid came out I closed the slave nipple and filled MC to the top. The I tried bleeding the nipple on the MC, put some absorbing cloth around the nipple (no hose that fits), pull the clutch lever and slightly opened the nipple, fresh fluid came out, no air. Did this a few times untill MC reservoir was low. Refiller reservoir and closed all.
Clutch goes pretty smooth.
Started up the bike to see if the clutch still works, HELD the from brake and pulled the clutch, smooth into first gear without issues, could also roll away on clutch.
Seems to have gone ok considering the mess and it being the first time I did this.
Question though: assuming that I made a mess and there is still air in the system, does it make sense on the magura system to keep the lid off the reservoir and tie the clutch lever for a few hours? To see if some air bubbles up? This so that I can ride to a professional safely to have it checked out or done all over
Thanks,
Marc
