About 2/3rds the way through my pads. Need to start waying up some options. Anyone using something other than stock?

If so, what brand, how much and how do they compare to stock.

I must admit that I have no issues with the stock pads. These are the best brakes I've ever had on a street bike by a long shot. I'll probably stick with stock pads but am just curious.

Also, where is the best place to get the stock Brembo pads here in the US? I don't even want to go over to Del Amo and ask them how much. They are absolute crooks (they wanted $213 for the stock Yuasa battery!).

Thanks, John

Something wrong with those catalogs. They have listings for the SD but they are for model year 05 thru 08. That's not possbile as the 05-06 have different calipers than the 07-08 (unless those calipers use the same pads which I doubt).

Any leads on reasonably priced stock pads would be appreciated. I think I'm gonna stick with them.

Thanks, John

Call me a crazy, but I can't stand the squeeky stock pads. They seem to generate an inordinate amount of dust. They gotta go.

So, what pads are you running?

Has anyone tried Carbonne Lorraine pads on their Superduke?

Thanks.

Hav'nt had a problem with the stock pads in my '08, but was running EBC HH pads in my Firestorm. Not grabby but come on strong with plenty of feedback. I beleive there is an even better version out now.

A bit pricey, but top shelf stuff.

I just installed Galfer lines and Carbonne Lorraine pads on my GSXR. My initial impression is good, but they really aren't even bedded yet. So I was trying to find out what others thought of these pads.

I have tried Galfer before, but have not tried EBC. Frankly, I wasn't particularly impressed with the Galfers - hence my quest for something different.

I've never had EBC, but will have to give them a try based on your responses.

EBC are great on road and track. They are a little noisier due to metal content, just a slight ? Wizzing sound no squealing!

Last time I couldn't get them so ended up with Goodrich HH sintered, which look the same and are probably made in the same factory?

Also they don seem to wear the disc any more than OEM pads. Don't know why, but that's my observation after running them on four different brand bikes.

I have a brand new set of EBC HH pads for the front SD Brembos. I fitted them a few months ago, bedded them in for a little over 100mls but then bought some Brembo Monoblocks and changed the brakes over.

If you're interested I will sell the pads for less than a new set. They really are unused. Can't remember exactly how much I paid, about £70 - got them from Gear4.

By the way, even in the 100mls I thought that they were better performing pads than the OE Brembo ones.

Hi Bic,

Over many years I have tried, many brake pad manufacturers and compounds. Last year I replaced my front pads with the Brembo SC. They are by far the best road pad I have used and are, in my opinion better than the offerings from EBC.

My decision was guided by the blokes via this link;

http://www.bikehps.com/brembo/brembo_brakepads.html

Not only do they sell the pads, they test them. If in doubt, give them a call and let them guide you to a pad that works for you and your riding style.

I also prefer the EBC HH pads. Remember to put an arrow for direction of wheel spin on the back of pads if you ever want to remove them and put them back in again. Not good to put them in the other way round.

funny, i think ebc are crap, noisy, wooden, i just don't like the feel. i use SBS sintered on my bikes and they are way better than std brembo stuff, and in my opinion much better than most other aftermarket pads i've used.

I just replaced my front pads, I would not use Brembo again:

I got 2 news tyres put on, when the fitters were putting the calipers back on one of the front pads just fell off its backing plate. Though it would have been contained in the fitted caliper agaisnt the disk, I hate to think to think what might have happened there. Water got between the seal of the backing plate and friction material, the backing plate was totally rusted across its full surface. The other pads seemed fine, but worrying.

The fitters told me that the friction pad is attached to the backing plate manually i.e. by a human and sometimes there can be a dud one.

I replaced the stockers with aftermarket (non 'factory' Brembo pads. I have two observations:

1) the 'aftermarket' Brembos are built to a better standard. The stock pads did not look to have been assembled as well as the aftermarket ones

2) I ilke the initial bite on the pads

I would.not hesitate to purchase or install the aftermarket Brembo pads on this or my new to me 2005 SV650

YMMV

I went for some Bendix MRR on my rc8. MCR have carbon in which suffers in the wet apparently.

Those MRR pads are amazing though, took a bit of bedding in but I'm still on old brembo braking distance and entering corners even slower! Thats my excuse anyway

SBS are supposed to be good too, again dual carbon take too long to heat and and crap in the wet too.

Guys on trackdayriders seem quite anti EBC HH don't know why though..
