Brake pistons changed...

Hi all,

Just had brake pistons changed on my SD, a couple in each caliper had seized. The dealer advised me that the brakes would take a little while to bed in.
They are improving, but are still a bit soft, with more travel on the lever before they bite than I'd like. At the moment, I'm trying to avoid using the brakes with full force, just being gentle and progressive on the lever. I assume this is best?

I'm going to bleed them this weekend to see if that helps but I'm wondering if any of your guys have first hand experience and could advise how long it typically takes after a piston change for brakes to perform normally. I'm considering a track day next week but obviously don't want to go killing myself.

Any advice much appreciated. Ta!

I changed the seals on mine last winter and cleaned up the pistons with cleaner and 1200 grade paper as it's just a build up of shite on them that makes them seize. Give them a good bleed and I'm sure they will be more like you remember

Each pad will wear relative to the disc, it is possible they may wear relative to disc and piston. If the old pads went back into the calliper in a different placement order to that of which they came out, the performance may take some time to come back as the pads bed in relative to disc and piston.
However, the current description of poor performance would, as suggested, be best tackled in the first instance with a rebleed.
