Looks simple enough but if it was me I'd stick it back on ebay as a buy it now for the price you paid for it and get a proper H7 one.
I ordered mine from here
A guy I know from the KTM forum has used these units for a couple of years in his mille and now has one in his RC8. A few others have ordered as well and all got theirs in 10-14 days but I think the post strike has affected my delivery, I ordered a twin pack to share with somebody else so saved a couple quid each. The one above links to the same type I've ordered but there are loads of options.
Of course if you wanted high and low beam the one you've got is a cheaper option and eliminates the issue of warm up time for flashing but would render your high beam bulb redundant and I'm thinking it might not disperse the light properly in the wrong position in the headlight due to the reflector at the back but I'm no lighting expert so could be wrong about that.[/url]

I think I'll order another set, and bung this one in the wife's Speed Four.
I'd prefer to get the correct one for the SD, and I've read the H4 bulb is a bit of a compromise over a dual bulb set up. I'll get some from the site you recommend, though I can't see an H3 bike set up for the main?

Hi all, Found this place on the net. Seems to have all the models and they can be ordered with the type of bulb you want. I had a Chinese friend checking them out and he seems to be under the impression they are ok. Haven't tried them yet myself, prices seems reasoneable... http://www.chinese-factory.com/12304031 ... -c-39.html
Good luck and let us know if you get ripped off!

I'm getting a bit confused here. I ordered a H7 kit but the box came marked with H4 H/L. I looked through the manual and the pictures of the whole kit have a starter in them yet I didn't receive a starter.
The H7 kit picture on the site is exactly what I received even though the box is marked H4 H/L
Am I right in saying then that this will mean the high and low beam will be coming from the same bulb now?

The only problem with HID bulbs is they have a very high initial current draw, which then gradually drops off as the arc is struck to then use less than a normal bulb.
Like this >
However, with 07/08 > SD's the dipped bulb is on all the time (ie you can't turn it off).
So could this cause something bad to happen !? ie drawing too much current just when you need it to start the engine, especially on a cold morning.
Some sort of delay like 30seconds would be good, to allow you to start the engine then turn the lights on.
This would give the added benefit of 4amps less draw when starting compared to a std set-up.

Yes, but the biggest part of that initial draw will have already happened as soon as you turn the ignition on while the bike is still doing its start up sequence before you even hit the power button and then the draw is only small so wouldn't really make much difference, 6 amps is nothing compared to everything else on the bike that's running at the same time and the brief amount of time it draws high shouldn't make a difference either on a properly maintained battery.
It would be simple enough to put an inline switch into the setup if you felt it was needed or even to fit the switch gear from an 05-06 bike as i believe all the wiring is still there, the 07 even has a sidelight bulb despite not having a sidelight option.
