chain lube?

Hey,

so just got it, all good. Been a while since i had a chain driven bike so was wondering what kind of chain lube and frequency of lubing you use?

I've got some Yoshimoto Gold chain wax left over from a few years ago, I liked it before but I'm not sure it's right for the SD.

I'm toying with the idea of a Scottoiler (cos I do mega miles!) but it all flings off and gets the rear wheel all cacked up n stuff. I want my SD to look cool n clean all the time!

Motorex 622 strong, as recommended by KTM. (funnily enough!)

Profi Dry Lube works for me

cool, never heard of it but will investigate....

Not everyone goes for the recommended stuff though do they? It'd be a first in my experience if the recommended stuff was actually what everyone used and WAS the best too!

I had the Motorex from my previous bike - didn't realise it was KTM endorsed til I got the SD! Have had scottoilers on previous bikes but as you say, the back end gets filthy quickly, though I found it easy to remove, as the oil's so thin.

Shade, if you want to try the 'Profi', you can only get it at 'Gericke'.

Its £10 a can but I find it excellent as it doesn't fling or collect road crap

The only time it was ineffective was when I had a GS as it kept coating the outside of the shaft housing and didn't seem to work

Had one fitted to the Sd when it arrived... .took it off within 3 days.

It covers the wheel and bike in WAY too much shite.

I gave it to a mate for nothing.

Even if it works well, whats the dificulty of spraying the chain every 350/500 km's?

I even take the time to check the tyre for nails ou uneven wear...

I just pop the rear up using a swing arm stand and wipe the chian down with an old gym sock soaked with WD-40.

I then wipe the chain with a dry sock and then spray on some Hondaline Pro-Chain lube. This stuff is great...no fling at all. If chain needs adjusting then now is the time as its nice and clean and will give you correct feel during adjustment.
