Thanks CJC. Put it back together (got frustrated). Got a few more rides in the stock ones so I'll wait until my next set of tyres and try again.

I quit after my first try also. When I returned to it later I tried some different pins and they came right out so I just kept trying on the others. The stuck ones are a booger!

Have to tried using a hole punch and whacking them out from the other end instead of pulling them out?

(I dont know if this is possible on the 08 but it can be done on the 06)

Not possible on the 08. the pins are installed into a blind hole. At first I thought the pins were hanging on the retaining wire but no, this isn't the problem. I then tried needle nose pliars and pry the pins out against the caliper body (very gently mind you - didn't want to scratch the caliper), no luck. Looks as if I'm gonna have to scrape something up to get these bastards out.

FFS! What a design! Italians. They definitely know how to make something look good but when it comes to fit, form, function, reliability and maintainability - forget about it.

I use a very large flat head screwdriver on mine....and lever it out from the rim near the end where it gets larger in diameter.

Maybe a wire brush to remove some of the brake dust cack that builds up on the pin would help?

Strange ??

I changed mine on my 08 SDR without any problems. And trust me - if I can do it - everybody can do it

They (the pins) are a little tricky but its actually possible to remove them without violence !

I removed the wheel - then it was easy to work with
