check oil level SD 05-06

Hello, sorry if this is an old discussion.. ...I've read a lot of threads, but the doubts remain...
When my engine is the level is over the max and when it's the level becames quickly under min...

Can anyone describe me the exact metod to check oil level on 05-06 SD?
...I mean step to step... indicating the time in minutes ... engine on or off ...

Oil level should be checked with engine OFF on level ground. The oil level in the sight tube, on left side of engine, should read between the lines on the sticker on the oil tank. Don't do it on the side stand, the bike needs to be vertical. It's a shit design because if it's not correct you need to run around the other side and top up the oil tank on the right hand side. Then run back and check again. Many people have installed a conventional dip stick on the oil filler cap so you can check the oil level from the left side only. They are available from KTM for the motocross bikes, it makes life a lot easier.

To have to remove the side panels to top up oil is also a crap design. The SD is not perfect!

I installed a Zeta dip stick and will eventualy remove the oil site tube altogether,,,,the thing is a leak waiting to happen,,,IMO,,,stupid design,,

Do they make the Zeta in black?

Yep it's "orange" and it's better than a plastic ADV KTM part,,it's pre drilled for safty wire too,,you don't see it anyway,,,,,,

Yes, my one is that horrible orange anodised colour too but like Maddog says you don't see it.

Been pulling the "orange" "off" a bit as of late,,,down to a few fairing bolts,,,painted the swing arm plugs black,,orange can protectors are now R+G in "black",,,the gel seat will go when I find the same deal I bought the "orange" one for in "black" ( don't see it wilst sitting on it),,I will be installing "orange" Zip-tye axle block's with the axle and pull however,,(nice kit),,have all plastic's in "black" and a set in "carbon",,,,"orange" Top-Block pegs stay though Bic,,,to good a deal to take them off ( don't see them while your feet are on them ):!: until that is I get the two set's of DHM's I have powdercoated "black",,,(stole those too ),,,so for all the orange haters out there ,,mine is going "black",,albeit one bit at a time,,

I will find a metal one in black damn it, even if i have to make it.
