Hi Chree,

It depends what's got on to them. If it's chain lube I use a petrol-soaked rag to get it off. If they are dull I would use a light metal polish. Try something like Silvo or Brasso (T-Cut can work well too) but try them out on an area you can't see before going mad.

I have used Solvol in the past on ally silencers but found it too abrasive. Maybe OK for titanium or stainless pipes though.

Headers - much the same story. Use the weakest polish or solvent you can get away with. If you have one use a mechanical polisher to get the best shine.

If it's shine you want.........

Akrapovic per their website, recommend using WD40 to clean the mufflers.

I follow these recommendations and have been happy with the results. It removes chain lube, road tar etc. and leaves a uniform finish that doesn't seem to attract dust.

I just spray some on a cloth rag which makes it easier to keep it away from the stickers. Not sure if it would damage them, just didn't want to take the chance.
