Having had difficulties getting gears engaged and loud crunching when putting the bike into 1st gear i decided to pull the clutch apart to check for wear!
Now, my clutch basket has very small grooves from the clutch plates but nothing excessive that should cuase the problems im having, what i did notice was that when all the clutch plates are removed the OUTER clutch basket has some free play in it! (probly 1-2mm movement side to side/up and down - you can wiggle it and get some movement in it!)
Now before i go any further and pull the basket out is this condition normal or do you think the main bearing round the shaft has gone or maybe the Outer basket itself is damaged???
Im assuming its not meant to have any free play in it and there is a problem?!?!?!?
