Clutch/starter cut-off switch question

This weekend I noticed that with the quickshifter fitted it sometimes stalls the engine when you're trying to snick up into neutral from first at traffic lights. That's expected....but what ( realised is that my starter won't work unless the bike is in neutral. I'm pretty sure that it used to be that if you pulled in the clutch then you could start the bike in any gear. There's a small micro switch with a long bit of spring steel underneath the left hand switch gear and the clutch lever has a rod which pushes this when the lever's in. I have ASV levers fitted but just can't remember whether this switch worked with the previous Rizoma levers fitted.

Has anyone got a photo of the set up to show me how the lever interfaces with the switch? Maybe I've fitted it incorrectly of the switch has been damaged in one of the Brands Hatch crashes last year. And aslo can someone confirm that the bike should start in any gear with the lever pulled in? If it doesn't then maybe I'm worried about nothing.

Mine starts in any gear with the clutch pulled in as long as the sidestand is up!

if you have a look at this photo for example -

The silver part of the lever that the adjuster fits into extends out of the bottom of the lever (as can be seen in the pic) and its this that pushes on the little switch

If the lever is doing its job its also worth checking the voltage across the switch (see the tech manuel for details)

So that's what I thought. The little bar does push against the switch but it doesn't seem to allow the engine to start with the bike in gear and the lever pulled in. Any ideas? I may have to start tracing the wiring and see if there is something disconnected.

Bic I too have the ASV levers fitted,, but the only thing about them is that little pin that actuates the switch is to small, it needs to be thicker,, what I did was install two different sizes of electrical shrink wrap on the pin to make it thicker,, actualy three sizes,,, works the charm after heating it's going nowhere,,, and makes the little pin your favorite color ,,,BLACK

Aaaah. I maybe thought this might be the problem - the lever does not push far enough to operate the micro switch! The bar on my old Rizomas had a much wider diameter bar. I will give this a go and see if it works, thanks. The other thing I'm confused about is the look of the micto switch underneath the switch gear cluster. It's hard to describe but I'll give it a go. I haven't really "noticed" the way this was from new but my switch looks like a kind of exposed switch with a long spring steel part that the pin hits. It looks kind of exposed. Not really KTM style. I was wondering if during many of the track crashes I have had into gravel whether some sort of casing has been torn off maybe making the switch inoperative? Just not sure and I can't find any pictures of what it's really meant to look like. Has anyone got a pic or could go snap me one?

Thanks

Bic, my ASVs have got the pin on them to actuate the clutch switch,it does actuate the switch correctly.

I thought it had a cover on it to thicken the pin but it doesnt.

Hey Bic .. The clutch switch is exposed on all of the Superdukes I've seen. The problem with mine is sometimes when I remove the bike
cover it catches the spring arm and moves to the other side of the pin. I don't usually don't notice this until my life depends on starting the
bike in gear

That little switch looks like a 1970's Italian electrical part,, very cheap looking bit fer sur,,, pretty exposed,,, which ASV set does the shade have my actuating pin needed to be just a bit bigger to make the Italy switch work,, I think you will be all set Bic after you do this small mod,,, although crash gravel "could have" bent or damaged the Italy switch it in some way,,,
