Aegis Bearing Mel
Hi guys, afraid to say that I am using you as a sounding board at the minute.
Me and a couple of mates are heading to Europe in the summer, mibbes even up to Sweden...
My concerns funnily enough turn to fuel, or the lack of it, especially in the tit end of nowhere on a sunday.
By my reckoning, if I was to get the local custom bike shop to fabricate a new tank that was the same shape as the original, but raise the top of the tank by, say, 40ish mm over the whole, that should squeeze in another few useful litres.
Ideally aiming for 22-24 litres in all.
Any of you clever types help me plan this one out??
Is the bottom underside of the tank as sculpted as the rest or relatively flat?
Anyone foresee any problems with having a slightly taller tank above the mounting points for the side fairingy doofers?
Steering?
All very much thinking out loud at the minute, least of all because the bank faeries aren't exactly on the best of terms with me at the minute.
Foccin' festive...
If not, any other useful suggestions??
I'm also looking to get them to make up a pannier rack system in the same vein as the SW Motech quick release thingy.
I don't take pillions so reckon the three pillion peg mounts would make a very usefull starting point, using an extended undertray and tail tidy as the rear fixing point.
Should also deal with the problem of keeping the subframe rigid.
Muzzily remember reading a post a while back of someone's subframe cracking as they had removed the pillion holders.
Had looked at the fuel cans that bolt underneath the Hepco & Becker panniers you see...
Feel free to hurl abuse and tell me to buy a Viffer too.
Cheers in advance.
Andy
