Dealer tuned for pipe...wow!

OK so I was down at our new KTM dealer in town and the tech mentioned he just got back from the LC8 school at KTM USA and could get a custom tune for any pipe. So when I put my leo vince pipes on sure enough there was a dead spot so I gave it to the dealer...one day later and holy crap what a difference! I don't know what they did but I can tell the torque limiter is gone for gears 1 and 2, there is more power, and it is much smoother than stock with no fueling issues whatsoever. Only mods are leo vince pipes and SAS removal. I imagine any of the aftermarket tuning devices would have worked just as well (or better perhaps) but why bother when the dealer can do it pretty inexpensively and will take responsibility for any negative side effects.

So the moral of the story is...anyone who hasn't gotten a tune....get one!

Do you mean that he loaded on the aftermarket pipes or akra map? As this does all you have said.

And according to my dealer there is only one Akra map as such. Yeah there is one for the different years but not one for different exhaust systems. Doesn't matter if you have slip-ons from Akra or full system it's still the same map.

Neither...he called a buddy at KTM USA who built a map for my Leo Vince pipes (supposedly). The tech said he didn't want to load the Akra map as the pipes may react differently but that KTM can build maps for certain dealers/people and I guess he was one of them? Either way it works pretty well and I'm happy with it. I realise I could have had a custom tune performed but I'm not looking for the last 1/2 a horsepower, I really just wanted to improve rideability.
