Well, I tried my best to sell my Graves exhaust at deeply discounted prices (less than half of retail), but a lot of griping about the system made for a hard sell. They never sold, so Dr. Frankenstein took matters into his own hands.
My two complaints about the Graves are that they:
1. Make me smell like ass after riding
2. Are essentially 'straight pipes' and neither perform nor sound good.
So, my theory on the stench is that the Graves are much longer than the stockers and thus, place the exhaust exit into the area of air that circulates up around my back while riding. My solution, chop them mothers down to a length that makes them similar to the stockers.
That portion of my plan may result in a sound and performance profile even more lothesome than the original Graves, so I'm also creating a baffle in the exit. It was discussed here before that Graves modified the cans to be a tad quiter by welding a sleve into the exit of the can. This sleve is basically a 4 inch section of straight pipe with no perforations or baffling. My method of getting the sound and performance where I want it is to cut slits into this sleve and bend baffles into the previously straight pipe. This section will look basically like any other system's baffle inserts.
Here's the pics so far. I got one can done today and I'll do the other tomorrow. The whole task is nerve-racking as hell and my new most-hated thing on the planet is stainless stell rivets. Hopefully this works or else I'll be performing some sort of exhaust sytem sacrifice in the garage.
Oh and no comments on how messy the garage is. I've got 10 pounds of crap in a 5 pound bag.
