Dropping the yokes

At the moment the fork tops are flush but was thinking of pushing the forks up by 10mm, anyone tried this. Just finding the bike a little to rear endy, getting a lsl steering damper so know that'll keep things in check......
I'm about 80kg (12st) kitted up, at the moment running sport settings but think I'm going to go with a halfway between comfort/sport as bucks around a bit. Sport was perfect on the 950SM but that was 20+kg heavier, had a Buell XB12 which is a short wheelbase bike too and dropped the front 10mm which made that feel more planted. By the way running the '05 version SD, anyone with similar weight that's got a setup, what are your settings?

Thanks

I do not recommend that. The SD/R already is a fast turning bike and that will make it turn even faster. You'll also have potential problems with the front becoming unstable in cornering. Personally I would keep them flush. On track i preferred them pushed down into the yokes as much as I could get away with.

Getting your suspension in order is the first step, the bike will transform.

I tried it with the yokes dropped about 10mm down the forks.
didn't make an enormous difference to the front end feel or speed of turn in. What it did do is allow the mini bellypan to dig in and destroy itself whilst making the handling 'exciting'.
Overall not recommended IMO.

Set the sag on the rear first!
As advised above, get the suspension setup.

Mines a standard , not the R , tubes are down inside the yolks almost an 8th inch. Originally were sticking up about 1/8th ...... makes a difference to me...
