Well, I've been trying out the O2 sensor eliminators from the PCIII kit. Everyone with the PCIII says it's made a huge difference, but having studied the map changes, they are tiny.
The one thing (er, 2 actually) that is very different is the (are the) O2 sensor eliminators. I suspect (nay, am almost convinced) these stop the ECU relearning the changes in O2 levels in the zorsts and, therefore, it stays pretty much as it should. The other adaptive settings will still learn but not the O2.
If I'm right then these cheap little babies (about GB£30 - US$60) should be a permanent fix.
This is still mainly theory, of course, having only just fitted the bits and covered about 50 miles with 'em. However, normally 30 miles in town is enough to make mine jerky and after 50 miles it's still 90% right.
Worth a try if you have 60 bucks to (possibly) waste !!!!
