Exhaust leak

I have a bit of exhaust leak at the last joint before the muffler. It's a kind of coned joint with no gasket. I have tried to tighten (and loosen) the clamp with no difference.
Can I do something about it, or is it normal and nothing to bother with?

Locally, I would use the Permatex Gold heat resistant gooey stuff. They might have a similar product in your neck of the woods. Check with your local auto-parts for exhaust sealant...

mine just went too. I've ordered two graphite rings. I don't think that the Permatex would hold up very long. It's rated at 700'F and I am sure that the exhaust gets much hotter than that. I hope I am wrong 'cause parts are going to take a week to get here.

I use the Permatex High Temp sealant on my joints, works like a charm. Otherwise I would have leaks also.

Anyone have an exhaust leak? I just bought a SD with Akro cans and I can see carbon specks on my shock spring and swing arm. I can feel it coming from the exhaust clamp joint upstream from the "Y". Would high temp copper silicone exhaust sealant be recommended?

You sure it's not from the rear cylinder down pipe junction? Carbon graphite seal only lasts 5-10K miles.
