ok, 33 is hot. d'you mean to say you can get 35-36 in summer?!

No.47, did you measure the thread size? So we can find a car one that fits?
It doesn't seem to be worth analysing that Husaberg thread to see if the one that didn't fit theirs / the KTM RFS / would fit the SD.

It's not a part for the Lc8, certainly not for the superduke, or it would be listed in the parts manual.

I read something the other (probably on advrider, I suppose) that pointed to it not being a good idea. Sorry, I don't remember quite what, I just made a "mental note" to forget it.

The one option that can't have a negative effect, an undesirable side-effect, is to add a second fan, so that when the LC8 system does turn on the fan, it turns on two fans. Wire them in series, take the wires off the existing fan connection. Fan from the RFS /450/525/whatever, or a Spal fan that's a suitable size.

But fitting an additional fan will only reduce the time the fan is running (to reduce temperature to 102C) not reduce engine running/coolant temperature - cannot think of a reason why engine should not run at a lower temperature (that's what it's doing on the motorway/open road anyway) at all times and will be fitting a manual override switch until able to find an alternative thermoswitch.

temp here is about 30-40 in summer. My solution is make another switch and stick it wherever i feel convenience to turn on whenever i like. Just simple like that. ( i install on my previous bike which was FZ1)
here is my plug:

or other one is:

I use the wire direct from thermo sensor with my plug and that's it. No more expensive money to buy another sensor cost me maybe 100$ plus in my country.
I think the thermo sensor has 2 wire: when the temp get enough hot, the sensor will work and connect two wire together. So my solution is make other plugs to turn on the fan whenever i like

No.47, thanks for the TLZone thread! That should make it easier to find one. Please let us know what you do.

i added an additional fan and the temp switch on both my sd and adv. 2 years so far and no problems. temps are always in check. i also did the 09 water pump upgrade on the sd. the adv will get the wp upgrade in abbout 2000 miles. going thru las vegas last summer, sitting in grid lock traffic, 2 up, my adv never got above 5 bars. my temp fears are a thing of the passed.

Thanks for the info mrbubblehead and the link cat!

I've been doing some searching and it looks like the stock fan is this one:
http://www.spalusa.com/store/main.aspx? ... m=30103011
Image
VA31-A101-46A Fan (5.2")
5.2" Paddle Blade Low Profile Fan / 12V Puller

The 4" SPAL fan mrbubblehead installed is this one as far as I can tell:
http://www.spalusa.com/store/main.aspx? ... m=30103018
Image
VA32-A101-62A Fan (4")
4" Paddle Blade Low Profile Fan / 12V Puller

Thoughts?

It looks like they are just as thick as each other just one is slightly bigger. So I think I will be ordering one of each as the 4" produces 124CFM as opposed to 313CFM on the 5.2" fan!

Surely it will fit?

Will post up here or in your thread whatever you guys think is the best with my resutls.
